Say Goodbye To Daisy Miller
Luke tells Sookie he and Lorelai kissed, but not to say anything to Lorelai. She does anyway, but neither Luke nor Lorelai knows how the other feels about it. Rory doesn't want to talk to Lorelai about her having sex with Dean. Lorelai at the Dragonfly and Luke at the diner talk about the kiss. Both agree it was good. Rory tells Lane she and Dean had sex, twice -- the second time at Miss Patty's. Emily tells Lorelai and Rory she and Richard have separated, which they already knew. Rory, still angry at Lorelai, goes with Emily to Europe. Luke leaves a message to Lorelai that he had to leave to help out his sister at a Renaissance Fair when she and TJ had an accident. Luke and Lorelai talk on their cell phones as Luke is driving to Maine.

A Messenger, Nothing More
Luke is still in Maine and Lane and Caesar are running the diner. Rory and Emily are in Italy. Rory asks Lorelai to give a letter she is sending to Dean. She does so when it comes. Lindsay finds the letter and throws Dean out of their apartment. He goes to his parents to stay. Rory returns from Europe. She and Lorelai go to the diner and Lorelai is surprised Luke is back. They leave the diner to talk, but keep getting interrupted and agree to meet later. Rory goes to see Dean. Lorelai and Rory finally have an evening alone.

Written In The Stars
Richard is living in the Pool House after he and Emily have separated. Rory starts her sophomore year at Yale. Asher dies of a heart attack. Lorelai and Luke have their first date - to Luke's favorite restaurant, Sniffey's. Luke tells her about the first time they met, and the scrap of newspaper with the note she gave to him, and he pulls it out, still carrying it after eight years. She is touched. Luke tells her he is all in. They end up spending the night in his apartment. The next night at the town meeting Taylor is discussing the ramifications of Lorelai and Luke dating -- what happens if they break up? Luke reads them the riot act, saying it's no one else's business and they are NOT going to break up.

Tippecanoe and Taylor Too
Lorelai goes downstairs to find Luke cooking breakfast, but she wants breakfast at Luke's diner -- wanting some things not to change. Paris brings the late Asher's antique printing press into their dorm's common room. Lorelai tries to get Taylor to approve more parking at the Dragonfly. Taylor informs Jackson that his greenhouse is too close to the property line and it has to be moved or torn down. Angry, Jackson decides to run for City Selectman against Taylor. Lorelai sets up his campaign headquarters in Luke's diner. But when Jackson wins, Lorelai feels sorry for Taylor. And Jackson doesn't want the job.

We Got Us A 'Pippi' Virgin
Since they're separated, Emily has a small 'panic room' put in the foyer. Looking for gin, Emily, Lorelai and Rory go to the pool house while Richard is away. Emily finds a loud glitter vest, and is upset he has a life she doesn't know about. Lorelai arranges a double date with her and Luke, and Rory and Dean at the Black, White, and Read Bookstore - Movie Theater to see "Pippi Longstocking." After the movie they go to Lorelai's house and Luke and Dean exhibit mutual hostility. Lorelai brings out Bop It and Luke and Dean have a contest; Luke wins. After Dean leaves, Rory blames Luke for the bad night then leaves for Yale.

Norman Mailer, I'm Pregnant!
Lorelai talks to Rory at Yale while Luke fixes her oven. Rory says Lorelai sounds happy; she agrees she is. Norman Mailer is doing an interview at the Dragonfly and Sookie is upset because he just orders iced tea. Turns out she's freaking out at everything because she's pregnant again. Christopher calls Lorelai to come over and help him with Gigi because Sherry has gone to Paris for a job. When Lorelai and Rory go to the Friday night dinner, both Emily and Richard are gone, so they decide to stay and order out. Lorelai tells Rory that Sherry left Christopher. Later Rory goes to Christopher and tells him to stay away from Lorelai because she is happy and he'll just mess things up for her.

You Jump, I Jump, Jack
At the Friday night dinner, Emily tells Lorelai she wants to meet Luke, again, but at dinner. Rory researches a secret Yale society - The Life and Death Brigade. Zach tells Lane he's ready to date her. Lorelai tells Luke he has to come to dinner, he says okay - get it over with. But when they go, Emily criticizes everything about him, but making it sound just shy of actual meanness. Rory goes with Logan on a strange overnight visit with the L&D Brigade. Tethered with a bungee cord, She jumps off a very tall tower with Logan. Richard calls Luke and makes arrangements for them to go golfing. Lorelai is horrified. Lane and Zach have their first date - watching the same movie they did the night before. Luke and Richard go golfing. Richard insists Luke franchise the diner.

The Party's Over
Lorelai and Rory have cocktails with Richard in the pool house and dinner with Emily in the main house. Liz and TJ are thinking about moving to Stars Hollow. Luke makes Lorelai a fancy dinner in his apartment, but TJ and Liz have a fight and TJ invades Luke's apartment, spoiling the romantic dinner. Emily, trying to get Rory away from Dean, throws a fancy party and invites Rory, but it's filled with eligible bachelors from Yale. When Dean comes to pick up Rory, he sees all the rich guys she's made friends with, and he leaves.

Emily Says Hello
Sookie's pregnancy is driving Jackson crazy. Lorelai calls Christopher to see how he's doing with Gigi since Sherry is still gone. She invites him to come to the inn for lunch. Rory and Lorelai visit Richard and Emily separately during the Friday night dinner. While Lorelai and Christopher are eating lunch, Rory comes by and sees him. Lorelai leaves and Rory accuses Christopher of trying to get back with Lorelai, not believing Lorelai invited him. After Christopher leaves Rory tells Lorelai she told him to stay away so he wouldn't mess things up with her and Luke. Lorelai lies to Rory, telling her that Luke knew they were going to have lunch. Feeling guilty, Lorelai finally tells Luke she had lunch with Christopher and Rory. Emily goes out on a blind date. Jackson is tricked into running a town meeting.

But Not As Cute As Pushkin
Lorelai discovers that on Nov 30th Luke has a "dark day" when he goes off and no one knows why. Headmaster Charleston of Chilton asks Rory to show a Chilton student around Yale. She does but the girl goes off, gets drunk and arrested. Luke has to find another place to keep his father's boat when the garage it was in is rented out. Luke confesses to Lorelai that his "dark day" is the day his dad died. He decides to get rid of the boat. Lorelai buys it and puts it in her garage. But when Luke sees it there he's mad at Lorelai for not respecting his wish to be rid of the boat and he stomps off. Later, after he cools off, he apologizes to her.

Women of Questionable Morals
Lorelai wakes Luke up in the middle of the night to go out and experience the first snow of the season. There is talk of the annual Revolutionary War re-enactment. But Taylor now says it was a prostitute who kept an English general occupied and delayed, allowing Layfayette to ambush the British troops, and they need someone to portray the prostitute. Emily and Richard begin bonding over a stray dog. The snow is making things hard on everyone, spoiling Lorelai's love of snow. Christopher's dad dies. Rory goes over to comfort him, and as she is leaving, Lorelai shows up with a bottle of tequila. She stays the night. The next morning at Luke's diner Lorelai is complaining to Rory about a hangover. When Luke sees Lorelai's red eyes, Rory lies and says she kept Lorelai up all night. After Luke leaves, they decide it would be better if Luke didn't know. Luke makes Lorelai a small skating rink to try to make her feel better about the bad snow day. Luke asks her one more time about why she felt bad that morning and she lies to him again. Luke buys a skating rink kit and puts it in Lorelai's front yard so she can skate, have fun, and not be mad at 'the snow' any more.

Come Home
Lorelai goes to bed early with Luke because he has early deliveries just to be with him even though she is wide awake. Mrs. Kim is having Lunar New Year and expects Lane to go, but she won't without Zach. Richard learns Emily went out on the blind date and gets jealous and rams her car at a function, then takes her home. When Lorelai and Rory go to Friday night dinner, Richard and Emily announce they are back together and are going to renew their wedding vows on their 40th anniversary with Lorelai as Maid of Honor and Rory as "Best man." While Emily tries on wedding dresses, Lorelai holds one up in front of herself, looking in the mirror. Later than night as they prepare for bed, Lorelai gets Luke to agree to go to her parents' wedding. Emily gives Christopher an invitation, telling him if he wants a chance with Lorelai he had better make his move.

Wedding Bell Blues
In the diner Lorelai and Luke discuss going to Richard and Emily's vow renewal. And he asks if he can come over that night to work on his dad's boat. That night, Lorelai and Rory are setting up piles of junk food to watch TV. Luke comes over then goes to the garage. Emily calls and comes over so Lorelai can mend her wedding dress. After it is fixed Richard calls from his bachelor party and thinks Lorelai is having one for Emily, so Lorelai calls her friends last minute. Everyone gets drunk and Emily spends the night. Luke arrives at 10:30 to get the girls. They go to the hall. Lorelai gets dressed. And Rory is in a 'tux.' During the ceremony, Christopher, unseen by Luke or Lorelai, enters and takes a seat. Afterward, Lorelai sees Christopher and hurriedly tells Luke about spending the night with Christopher and the tequila, stressing that nothing happened. Luke is angry but tries not to let it show. Christopher comes over and he and Luke finally meet. They go to their tables. Lorelai gets Luke to dance and not be mad at her. When they are sitting again, Christopher sits down and tries talking about the good times he and Lorelai had but she insists she doesn't remember anything. When it's time for pictures, Lorelai goes to find Rory, Luke follows her, and Christopher follows them. She finds Rory and Logan making out. Christopher sees it and threatens Logan. Then Luke does also. After Rory and Logan leave, Lorelai finds Luke and Chris arguing over Rory, then Lorelai. Chris tells Lorelai they were meant to be together and brings up Emily's name. Disgusted, Luke takes off. Lorelai can't go after him because of the group photos. She tells Emily, "You and me -- we're done!"

Say Something
Lorelai is frantic after the disastrous scene at wedding, and begs Luke not to give up on their relationship. However, Luke's decision that he needs time alone leaves Lorelai devastated. Meanwhile, Taylor has the whole town talking sides on the Lorelai/Luke relationship by handing out pink or blue ribbons. Stranded at Yale without her car, Rory is so worried about Lorelai's depressed state that she borrows Logan's limo and driver and heads home to Stars Hollow to care for her mom.

Jews and Chinese Food
When Lorelai discovers that Luke's boat is no longer in her garage, the void she feels without Luke seems even more painful. Luke agrees to build sets for the elementary school's production of "Fiddler on the Roof," knowing that Lorelai is the costume designer and hoping that their paths will cross. Meanwhile, Rory and Marty make plans to spend a day together, but Logan convinces them to come out to dinner. After a terrible evening with Logan's clique, Marty tells Rory how much he likes her, but she admits she has a crush on Logan.

So...Good Talk
Richard and Emily return from their second honeymoon and Rory attends the customary Friday night dinner, but an angry Lorelai refuses to see or speak to Emily. Rory surprises everyone with a rare outburst at her grandmother for interfering in Lorelai's love life. Miserable without Lorelai, Luke's dark mood causes him to burn the food and throw any customers who complain out the door of the diner. Emily pays an unexpected visit to the diner to talk to Luke. She tells him that Lorelai wants him and he should go to her. He does, and when she answers the door, takes her in his arms and kisses her and she responds.

Pulp Friction
Now that Lorelai and Luke are happily reunited, Emily can't understand why Lorelai still refuses to show up at Friday night dinner. Meanwhile, Rory regrets her agreement with Logan that they can date other people after she sees him out on the town with another girl. Later, at a party where everyone dresses as a character from a Quentin Tarantino film, Rory shows up with Logan's friend Robert, forcing Logan to admit his jealousy. Michel had been on "The Price is Right" and wins a motor home. Emily's second visit to the diner to speak to Luke leads to a bitter mother/daughter confrontation when Lorelai tells her to butt out of their lives and to shut up.

To Live and Let Diorama
Old man Twickham dies and Luke volunteers to help turn the house into a museum. Afterward he tells Taylor he wants to buy the house to start a family, with Lorelai. Lorelai has an interview about the Inn but when she tells too many horror stories about Emily that will be published, she has them pull the article. Lane thinks Zach is having an affair with Sophie. Kirk is staying with different people each night since he left his mother's house. Rory and Paris mope over their boyfriends not calling them.

But I'm A Gilmore
When Sookie's doctor makes her stay home in bed, Lorelai gets Luke to substitute for her in the kitchen. Sookie has Luke's food sneaked to her at home to make sure it's okay. When Luke finds out, he tell the kitchen help that no more food leaves the inn. So Sookie sneaks back to the inn and gets in bed in one of the rooms. Luke finds out about that and yells at Sookie. Jackson gets mad at Luke and chews him out. Luke tells Lorelai he has had enough of Sookie and Jackson, but he won't leave because they are in a relationship. Meanwhile, Rory tells Logan she wants to go back being friends, but he wants to be her boyfriend. They go to his parents' for dinner and Rory is shocked when Logan's grandfather and mother tell her she isn't good enough to be Logan's wife. They leave just as Logan's dad, Mitchum, arrives. The next day he offers Rory an internship at a newspaper he just bought in Stanford. She is reluctant, but takes the offer.

How Many Kropogs to Cape Cod?
Wanting to make a good impression on Logan's powerful father, Mitchum Huntzberger, Rory learns everything she can about him before starting work as an intern at one of his newspapers. When Lorelai learns that Emily and Richard have invited Logan to Friday night dinner, she ends her boycott of family gatherings in order to get to know Logan better. During the evening, Emily and Richard fawn over Logan, but Lorelai sees a side of him that causes her to worry about Rory's involvement with the Huntzberger family. Meanwhile, Lorelai gets an interesting job offer to possibly travel to Europe to consult with and advise other inn owners. Luke tries to talk Taylor into closing the Stars Hollow museum so he can offer a price for it.

Blame Booze and Melville
Lorelai and Luke go to a party in New york to clebrate the article about the Dragonfly. They proceed to get drunk and go home and have unprotected sex. The next day, Sookie goes into labor, and Lorelai mysteriously craves apples - a sure sign, she thinks, that she's pregnant. So she calls to tell Rory. Then Lorelai finds out that she's not actually pregnant, and Rory says something like, "That's a relief. Luke's not really a family kind of guy." But little do they know, Luke is trying to buy a house for him and Lorelai. In order to do so, he has to go see the town elders about the counter bid by Kirk who has saved up 1/4 of a million dollars to put down on the house. The elders decide that Luke deserves the house. Rory sits through a staff meeting at the newspaper, after which, Logan's dad tells her he's going to be moving on to a new project. She tells him she'd like to stay and work over the summer, and he sits her down and tells her his "gut feeling" is that she's not cut out for the newspaper business. Devastated, Rory drags Logan out of a yacht party, drops a Melville reference and convinces him to steal a boat. Emily becomes a personal patron for a Russian ballet dancer. The episode ends with Lorelai receiving a call from Rory: "Mom, I need you to come get me ...."

A House Is Not A Home -- Season Finale
After getting her out of jail for stealing a yacht with Logan, Lorelai is shocked to hear that Rory has decided not to return to Yale. Lorelai tells her she can't hang around Stars Hollow doing nothing. Lorelai then goes to Richard and Emily for help, who at first agree with her, but then they decide to side with Rory and she moves into the pool house. Lorelai goes to Luke, who agrees with her, and while he is ranting about trying to get Rory to return to Yale, Lorelai realizes he is the only one she can depend on and asks him to marry her. His reply is a stunned, "What?"
