Brethren, do consider that the Bible does NOT tell you what to do in black and white for every instance. It lays downs principles and then tells us to listen to the Lord and His Spirit in every case and try to discern what Bible verse applies to what situation. And this may take some experience to figure out and some fine tuning of our ears and spiritual senses.

Yet the church teaches, We believe every word of the bible' and so tell their congregation just believe the Bible as the inspired word for word WORD of God..... every jot and title. Just as the scribes and pharisees were taught to obey every jot and title of the law, and yet circumvented the spirit of the law.

So when do you answer a fool or a foolish question ?  According to the WORD, it says..

Pro 26:4 Answer NOT a fool according to his folly, lest thou also be
like unto him.

Pro 26:5 Answer a fool according to his folly, lest he be wise in his
own conceit.

So which one do you believe, do you answer or do you NOT. It doesn't tell you precisely but gives you clues on discernment. It depends whether your answer makes him more conceited or makes you like him.

You should also instantly  think about what Jesus did, as he did answer most questions of the scribes and pharisees and yet he did not lower his status or become like them. And this even though HE knew they weren;t honestly and sincerely asking questions because they wanted to learn but because they wanted to trap him. Nevertheless, Jesus usually answered them, for the sake of the sheep that were listening.

For we are suppose to give an answer to him that asketh us,

1Pe 3:15 But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and [be] ready
always to GIVE an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the
hope that is in you with meekness and fear:

And then sometimes even answer or reply to those that need an answer or rebuke if they sin before all.

1Ti 5:20 Them that sin rebuke before all, that others also may fear.

We all need to find out when and when NOT to, and when to speak and NOT keep silent, and when turning away and fighting another day is what the Lord wants. It takes discernment and experience and yet I reckon, and we are going to blow it a whole lot before we get even close to getting that kind of discernment.

But we gotta start... and gotta figure out what the Bible principles are from verses and stories and history and then listen to HIS SPIRIT for direct instant confirmation and guidance. Lord help us ...Getting the bible into our heart and lives, isn't as easy as just saying I believe every word of the Bible. It takes practise in real life and discernment in real life.
