Sexy Spiritual Christians
For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye ? (Mathew 5: 46)
If we only give because we expect to receive in kind, we already have gotten our reward and the Lord can not bless us further. But real love means giving even if we won't receive HERE on Earth. We just give without expecting to receive loveor gifts in return. For if we pass by those that need love and we deem them unattractive and just say to them 'Be warmed and filled' then wouldn;t we be failing the Lord by failing to meet their needs.
What doth it profit, my brethren, though a man say he hath faith, and have not works? can faith save him? If a brother or sister be naked, and destitute of daily food, And one of you say unto them, Depart in peace, be ye warmed and filled; notwithstanding ye give them not those things which are needful to the body; what doth it profit? Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone. (James 2: 14)
If we don't sometimes just give out of love, we aren't being Christian and aren't following following Christ's example. Because Jesus wouldn't just say 'Be thou warmed and filled' but Jesus would go further and try to fulfill their physical and spiritual needs irrergardless of the season or time.
Hereby perceive we the love of God, because he laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren. But whoso hath this world's good, and seeth his brother have need, and shutteth up his bowels of compassion from him, how dwelleth the love of God in him? My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in DEED and in TRUTH. (And in LOVE) (1 John 3: 16)
For Jesus gave even when it hurt, even when He was tired, to any and all thay needed his help. So at Christmas, above all times, we should be concerned about those that don't feel the love of Christ in their lives. Who don't know the Lord's love or don't know the love of another human being.
Sure Church people will not understand this because they are into holiness and the trappings of looking holy to others, rather than extending themselves out towards others in need. But those of us that know the Lord should be thinking about others at Christmas as well as our own own families. We can't just eat our feasts from the Lord's blessings and provisions, while others are starving. It just wouldn;t be right !
So can I suggest to those of us that 'have' love, the Lord's real sharing love, that we give what we have, with others. And Yes of course, it can extend to real physical love. For 'All things are lawful to us', when our hearts and motivations are right. And if we are just wanting to give without reward, nothing is more pure than that. So maybe this Christmas, we might consider sharing our homes, sharing Christmas dinner, or even sharing our wife or husband with others that are more needy than us.
Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down,
and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom.
For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be
measured to you again (Luke 6:38)
For 'Sexy Spiritual Christians' a very sobering thought for us might be the scriptures and truth, that the Lord requires so much more from us because of all the blessings and love He has given us. We aren't suppose to just selfishly hide away the love just for ourselves, because the Lord who has blessed us, can just as quickly take away those blessings of love from us, if we don't share with others. Amen ?
But he that knew not, and did commit
things worthy of stripes, shall be beaten with few
stripes. For unto whomsoever much is given, of him
shall be much required: and to whom men (and the Lord)
have committed much, of him (and her) they will ask
the more. (Luke 12:48-50)
And so the choice is ours even at Christmas, will we share the Lord's love with others ?. It may be a verse, a hug, a dinner, or even a gift of love to someone who is desperately in need of the Lord and His LOVE.
