Persecution of Early Sexual Gnostic Church

The Early Church after Jesus' departure spread far and wide, and yet was not uniform in belief as some might think. But it unified itself once it got it accepted by the world and when it became the official religion of the Roman Empire.Consequently, we have to go back in time to find out why todays church system that is so aligned to the world got so perverted and out of tune, and anti-sexual.

Therefore consider following a lead or clue at Wikipedia, concerning Nag Hammadi sacred writings.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nag_Hammadi

Nag Hammadi is best known for being the site where, in December 1945
thirteen leather-bound papyrus codices buried in a sealed jar were
found by local peasants. The writings in these codices comprised 52
mostly Gnostic tractates (treatises), believed to be a library hidden
by monks from the nearby monastery of St Pachomius when the
possession of such banned writings, denounced as heresy, was made an
offence. (END of excerpt)

This  reinforces that the Early Church was taken over by a division in the church elders, the Paulian group who wanted to control thought and the freedoms of the Lord from the Gnostics who believed in individual freedom and knowing from personal experience. There was hence many divisions of opinion and practise among the Gnostics, and yet they were the sexual branch that the old church fathers expelled so as to make a law and order and dictatorial church system, where members had to follow what the priests and elders told them to believe. This no different than the church system of the jews that persecuted Jesus and the earliest disciples of the Christian Church.

Consequently they banned all the writings of the sexual church, and killed any who possessed copies. And yet it seems some of these manuscripts have lasted and can be found among the documents at Nag Hammadi. They are different than the dead Sea Scrolls, which are also extremely interesting, even though in their entirety, they also have been kept secret from the public til today.

Mind you, as always with supposed scriptures, you have to ask the Lord which ones are true and which ones are false...as only the Holy Spirit can confirm to each of us, what makes sense in HIS SPIRIT. More later .... as personnaly so far, I don't put hardly any emphasis on any of them. Yet am interested in how the church fathers persecuted these early sexual Christians and tried to destroy their writings and practices.

And it is very interesting to note that the early Christians Gnostics believed in experienced Jesus and knowing Him personnally rather than just finding laws and dictums from writings. Yet the Gnostics were diverse just because of this.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gnosticism

Gnosticism is a term created by modern scholars to describe a
collection of religious groups, many of which thought of themselves
as Christians, which were active in the first few centuries AD.[1]
There has been considerable scholarly controversy about exactly which
groups to describe with this term. There is dispute among scholars on
the extent to which early groups may have described themselves using
the term "gnostikoi".[2][3] Sometimes the term gnosticism is reserved
for groups that might have used it to describe themselves, but often
the term is used more widely to identify groups emphasizing the
salvific benefit of individual wisdom.

The term gnosis is a Greek word expressing a type of understanding or
consciousness gained through personal experience. It is through this type
of transcendental experience that followers of Gnostic belief systems seek
escape from ignorance. Although many Gnostic movements identified with
the teachings of Jesus Christ and were Christian by their own definition,
there remains widespread variation in the particular religious orientations
of many Gnostic groups (End of excerpt).

So there you be, the slowly formalizing cold early church had a division where they threw out and persecuted the sexual followers of Jesus, so as to control their flocks in dead old laws that bind. You'll read about it in your research of early church history, or just by following hyperlinks. And then you may come to the conclusion of why todays church is so out of touch and unknowing and so legalistic and so anti-sexual.
