Step by step hitch-hiking Testimony

Two sisters and I were hitching a ride from Spokane Washington to Seattle, on our way eventually to L.A. We had a new girl babe in the Lord with us, so wanted to impress her with how the Lord provides for us miraculously. We prayed a great arrogant prayer, expecting the best ride in the best car to almost the doorstep in Seattle.

Ha, the first few cars stopped and we declined their offer, as they weren't going far. A few more stopped but we had already declined the short rides. And an hour turned into hours, and we were getting more desperate, and then prayed more desperately for an even better, more miraculous ride and it just never came. And for the first time in our Christian careers, we didn't get a ride and went back to the colony home totally devastated. What could we say. the babe girl was totally devastated and discouraged and so-called, because of it left the Family the next day.

A humbler me and the same older sister went back to hitch-hiking the next day and took the first car that stopped. We didn't go far, but at least we were out of the city and within minutes we were picked up again and off to Seattle in no time. And even though it wasn't as glorious a one-ride special as we had envisioned the day earlier, it was the type of ride the Lord usually gives. For He doesn?t always take us all the way in one ride or one revelation of truth, but merely guides us step by step along the way He has intended for us to travel, physically or spiritually.

So maybe even this is a testimony about how we just can't expect great miraculous revelations or understandings but must take small steps of learning step by step. It may not be as glamorous, but surely this is the way the Lord usually works.

Don't you reckon?
