I passed through Pheriche and Lobuje (the marker was unmistakeable!)
Above is Gorak Shep- a tiny settlement just before your final assault on either the base camp (5380m) or Kala Pattar (Black Rock) at 5545m- a tiny peak which gives you an excellent view of Mount Everest.
I arrived early in Gorak Shep. After booking my room, I immediately prepared to climb Kala Pattar. The next few pages captures what I saw. Your imagination can only capture the utter silence that existed. No insects. No people. No sound. It felt like Iwas the only person on earth.
