Smokey Mountain
The next few images can be disturbing for the viewers. Our group went on a field excursion to an area of the capital called "Smokey Mountain." In essence, this place is where the city's garbage trucks line up to dump its waste. There are people who live literally in the dump and make a living by picking garbage that could be re-sold.
Families have their children jump into the lined up trucks to get first dibbs on what could be turned into cash. These children do not wear shoes and the damage and infection that they receive from jagged metal and glass is a huge cause for concern.
The reason it is called "Smokey Mountain", is because the garbage dump is on fire.
