George Washington
&
Virginia Bailey Pursley
George Washington Pursley was the 3rd son of William Pursley of Virginia.  He was born in Westmorland Co. Virginia on February 26, 1808, while his parents were enroute to Barren Co., Kentucky.  After 1860,  George  wanted some "Northern Exposure" and left Barren Co. behind, moving his family to Warwick Co. Indiana, and the city of Booneville.  Many of his descendants still live there today, on Pursley road, on the original Pursley farm.  George was a very religious man, and was widely known as a "Hand Doctor", a recognized type of healer in the 1800s.  Today he would be known as an Osteopathic Dr.
Both George and Virginia are Buried in the Baker Cemetery, in Booneville, Indiana.  Among the sons who moved with him was William Jefferson Pursley...........
