Company B "Tigers Rifles" is an old unit with over 25 years of experience recruiting members from the Midwest area. Members participate in historical reenactments of the "War for Southern Independence", held in the Midwest states.
Company B is a military oriented organization, where all members can participate in the reenactment experience. Men, Women, and Children may serve in the infantry company as soldiers. We also have women that can help out as a vivinder to the troops. They dress in the same style as the men except they have a skirt over their paints. Children under the age of 16 are used as flag bearers or drummers or fife core.
We have meetings through out the winter and encampments through the summer. We train the soldiers at these events in the way of civil war soldier, the proper uniforms, and equipment. New members will be given time to secure their uniforms, and weapons. This time will also be given to the women and children that join and choose to follow a different way then the soldier. Time can be spent in learning about reenacting, our unit, and if you would fit in with the unit. After you have gone to three events you can be voted in by the unit members. Then at that time there will be a $2.00 a month unit fee to help with unit organizations. There are many things that make this hobby very enjoyable and if you ask the members I'm sure they would be glad to tell you them. Captain Donald Hillman Jr. Sergeant Major Greg Tetter This is a list of equipment that will be required of the new members of the 1st Louisiana Infantry, INC.
This list is established by 3 phases and will not be expected all at one time. You may borrow what you need from other members till you become a full member or for 3 events, which at this time you will be voted in. The first phase will get you fighting on the field. This is expected to be done within 6 mouths of the original vote of the new member. The Second Phase is to further your fighting ability while recreating the first person on the field. This 2 phase will be expected after you have been a member for a full year of the date that you were voted into the unit. The third phase will allow you to "camp" on the Company Street with "period type" equipment and other optional equipment and personal effects. While the unit sometimes has "loaner" equipment available, it is loaned on a first come, first serve basis. The sooner you get the equipment noted in the first and second phases, the sooner you can get onto the field to enjoy the recreation of the Civil War as a Wheat's Tiger.

* While the unit was issued Mississippi Rifles initially, due to events in the east that sometimes mandate the use of three-band rifles, it is your option as to what rifle to purchase.
*Through our study of this unit we feel that the Jacket would have already faded to brown by the time they would have gotten to battle. It is still a debate on if they were blue or not. There is a lot of documents that say that they were brown, again they were probably faded from bad fabric.
Personal Equipment like shaving kit, fork, knife, spoon, plates, drinking cup, and mucket all very in price, but is a great thing to improve on your first person.
