Plan
of The Day
Friday
English Tradition is to get the groom as drunk as
possible the night before the wedding and then shave off his eyebrows and put
him on a plane to Auckland or similar. Anyone in Canterbury early enough to catch
the pubs before last orders (11 pm) is invited to join him at the Miller´s Arms
on Friday evening.
(Of course anyone actively engaged in getting my
husband to be inubriated the night before our wedding will have to face the
consequences of being soundly horsewhipped by my father on the wedding day.)
Saturday
As stated in the invitation, the wedding ceremony will
take place at the County Hotel on the High Street at 1 pm. Afterwards a double
decker (and in worst case scenario jamming people into other guests´cars) will
take us back to the farm for the party. There is plenty of overnight parking at
the farm, of course, which is also easy to get to by bus from Canterbury for
those who want to pick their car up the next morning. The vague and extremely
weather-dependent plan is dinner and speeches/sketches etc in the garden
followed by a barn dance
in the barn, so please make sure you can dance and walk on lawns in the shoes
you are wearing!
Sunday
My (Charlotte´s) parents would like to invite
everyone, but particularly those who have come a long way for the wedding to
come back to the farm on the Sunday for a barbecue-cum-brunch. After that,
we´ll pack you off down to the seaside for the afternoon...
