To any lover of the Austrian countryside the Salzkammergut is a must, The region is a wonderful mixture of landscape, lakes, rivers, hills, mountains and a  place full of history and culture. The salt, the “White Gold”, made this part of Austria rich and famous in former days .
In the 19th century the members of Austrian Royal Family “Habsburg” began to spend their summer holidays here. Many European royalties tried  to gain estates here to be close to the Austrian monarch.
At that time summer castles and villas were built by  these important and famous families.  In our days it’s a pleasure to visit these buildings, most of them located in a magnificent setting.
