About Syringes

Luer 2cc, 20cc, 50cc

Disposable syringes are the only ones that can be recommended for squirting water. In medical use you have to throw them away after single use, as water squirters you can use them again and again. Disadvantages of reusable syringes of glass and metal look here.

Manufacturers are B. Braun, http://193.254.108.142/addocs/products/DE/DE/brsch/ACF3C3.pdf Henke/Sass/Wolf (www.henkesasswolf.de), Becton & Dickinson (www.bd.com), Terumo (www.terumo.com) and Kendall/Monoject (www.kendall.com), that produces the only 140cc disposable syringes. Besides you get syringes in the following sizes: 2cc, 5cc, 10cc, 20cc, 1 oz (30cc), 2 oz (50-60cc), 3 1/2 oz (100cc). Only the medium and big sizes are interesting for squirting water, because only then the amount of water is enough. Advantages and disadvantages of the different sizes look here.

Nearly every syringe has a tip where you can put a needle on. However, do never use needles while squirting water, for your security!!! Hints for security look here.

The inner diameter of the nozzle on the syringe tip decides about the diameter of the water jet. Fortunately it is not standardized, so different models of syringes create different diameters of water jets! So I recommend to try different syringe models!

You can get two part and three part syringes. Normally all up to 1 oz (30cc) have two parts (though there are also three part ones), all bigger ones have normally three parts. The three part syringes have an extra rubber on the piston.

The two part syringes do not have this rubber, but they are nevertheless perfectly tight! Besides there is a jerk at the moment when they are completely pressed together. If the syringe is empty, this makes a click, if the syringe is filled, this makes a powerful squirt at the end - this can be funny! I did not find out yet why there is this click.

Exception: Luer 50cc, two part

Disposable syringes are generally offered with a sterility guarantee of 5 years. The due date is noted on the sterile packing, sometimes also the date of manufacturing. Disposable syringes that are over that due date must no more be used for medical purpose! However it's a pity to throw them away! Go on using them, as water squirters!
