The recent Jack film from 20th Century Fox has taken alot of heat from Ripperologists. It is true- the film is not accurate (Abberline an opium addict? And what about the family which he DID have?), in order to make the film's theory work, many liberties must be taken (All of the prostitutes are very close friends), and of course parts of it are altogether laughable (Abberline dreams the answers?) All this aside, I enjoyed the film quite a bit. Doesn't this film have the strange, romantic, Victorian, silk top hat-Jack, feel that first got many of us interested in the Ripper? In my opinion, this film is (although fantastical) very good.
