Born in Bombay, India, Deirdre began her early musical training under the able guidance of her mother, Celia Lobo, and went on to take formal lessons with Jean Kingdom-Vollenweider for a year. In 1984 Ms. Lobo was accepted at the University of Santo Tomas, Manila, Philippines, for her Bachelor of Music Degree under the tutelage of the late Katherine Sternberg, and graduated in 1988. In 1990, Deirdre was accepted for her Master of Music Degree at the University of Colorado, Boulder, and studied under Dr. Robert Harrison, graduating in 1993. On graduating Deirdre went on to pursue her Graduate Performance Diploma at the Peabody Conservatory of Music in Baltimore, Maryland, and studied with Phyllis Bryn-Julson, graduating in 1994.
Presently, Deirdre is principal cantor and choral director at St. Matthews Catholic Church, San Mateo. Over the years, Deirdre has concertized internationally in India, the Philippines and the USA. Deirdre made her operatic debut in 1992 playing the role of Mother Gerald in Poulenc’s The Dialogue of the Carmelites, Boulder, Colorado.
In addition to a very busy performing career, Ms. Lobo teaches voice, piano (for beginners), theory, and sightreading. Deirdre teaches out of her private music studio in Daly City as well as at the Bronstein Music School, South San Francisco, California, and at St. Paul's Episcopal Music School, Burlingame, California.
Currently, Ms. Lobo studies with Marilyn Zschau, Dramatic Soprano (International) and has coached with Kathryn Cathcart (San Francisco Opera), Ron Valentino (San Francisco Opera) and Charles Worth.

Deirdre is married to Neville D'Cunha, and along with their son Andre live in Daly City, California.
