Kia Pride
If there ever was a car that I could easily afford to buy out of pocket as a practical vacation car in the PI, this would be it.

The Kia Pride is without a doubt the cheapest new car available in the PI. It's extremely small. I once rode in one from Manila to Subic and back with my cousin Donald. The ride was fairly comfortable and the amenities were more than I expected. My family once owned a Hyundai Excel. In comparison to the Excel, the Pride has more features. The engine is admittedly small, but that seems to be part of it's charm. Everything on this car is tiny. It's very easy to park, sneak through traffic and it gets great gas mileage.

I'm seriously considering purchasing one someday for my "lola" (grandmother) to use in the PI. As well as for anyone who would like to use it on their vacation. I'd rather save them the $1,000 a month it costs to rent a car. The car would be stored at my Lola's house w/ a car cover until she needs it or when any other balikbayans in my family arrive.

Only thing I would require would be to use Redline Synthetic motor oil and mid-grade gasoline from a reliable source. For much more I'd prefer to buy a Lancer but considering the fact that I'm planning to buy a Lexus after becoming an attorney, I might have to settle w/ the Pride.
