on how to enjoy and save money in

Restaurants
To ensure you find a restaurant table at a time you  want, nothing beats the good old-fashioned telephone.  It is still the fastest and most convenient way to make an instant booking. Please remember that a chef does not spend his/her day checking emails. The kitchen is the most important part of his business.

The phone numbers of all our restaurant members are listed on this website.
Accommodation
Specials are usually not available via Travel Agents, Tourist Bureaus or Visitor Centres. This is due to the fact that accommodation owners have to pay a commission of 10 to 25 % to the agency/bureau for each booking. These commissions are part of the cost you have to pay. Please remember, when you use an agency or bureau, you pay for their service. There is no such thing as a "Free Booking Service". To reduce the cost to you some accommodations cannot be booked via the local Tourist Bureau or any other agency.

When you contact the business direct, the owners save the commission and are more willing and able to give you a discount. Naturally you cannot expect a discount during the peak seasons, i.e. school holidays and long weekends.

It certainly pays to check out the websites and talk directly to your chosen host. All websites are linked from this site and all phone numbers are listed for your convenience. So, why not ring your host direct and save some money. Try it, you may be pleasantly surprised.

If you want to come to Denmark during any of the school holidays or a long weekend, please book your accommodation well ahead. We suggest you book 3 months ahead if at all possible. If you want to get away on short notice, you will always find a nice place to stay outside the school holidays. If you don't have school-aged children anymore, why not travel outside the school holidays or try a winter holiday. You will be pleasantly surprised by our mild, calm and sunny winter weather. Tariffs are usually lower in winter, too.

We strongly recommend you stay in properly managed accommodation. Remember, you worked hard to earn your holidays and you do not want to waste your holidays in bad accommodation. Only in managed accommodation will you find a host who is happy to assist you by arranging your tours, knows about the local restaurants and can tell you about our local attractions. Your hosts know what's on and what's worth seeing. All  accommodation listed on this website are managed businesses with the owners living on site
.

Some accommodation in rural areas away from the town of Denmark are naturally accessible by gravel roads. With the size of rural properties that is not a problem; but please drive carefully until you are used to it. If your accommodation is in Denmark itself and on a gravel road beware of dust. Traffic within the town is naturally much higher and buildings are much closer to the road. Yes, there are gravel roads in residential areas in Denmark.
A gravel driveway leading to your accommodation is not a problem because only you will drive on it
.

Make sure your accommodation is in Denmark!
Some places advertise as being "in Denmark" and are listed in some magazines and local guides under the Denmark heading when in reality they are in the Albany Shire. Always ask your host how far they are from Denmark, or you may find that a lot of your holiday is spent in the car going to pick-up your daily food supplies. If you use an agency, ask exactly how many kilometers your accommodation is from Denmark.
Attractions
If you plan to visit any of the many man-made attractions around Denmark ask your host or your agency if they are open during your stay.

Unfortunately, some are open only for the holidays and some long weekends. Their owners operate their "business" as a hobby and work elsewhere. Again ask your host if they are open so you can get the most out of your holiday time.

Some attractions are naturally limited by climatic conditions. You do not want to be up high in the trees on the "Tree Top Walk" in Nornalup during strong winds. For safety reasons it is closed on such occasions. Your accommdation host will know all about the local attractions. Please ask.
