Thoughts
By Deona Lindholm
I’ll
be rather honest. Yes, it’s true.
In the beginning, I hated you.
Such an arrogant one, you struck a dying man,
Demeaned the life in the car as only you can.
Even when time passed, you never changed,
Caution and orders aside, said you, common sense
be hanged.
It still puzzles me, even now.
Did you change…or did I somehow?
Through the first months, I’ve been just as
hard,
Perhaps after the death, I had put up a guard.
But through the days then years, trials that
we’ve been through,
Something did change…in me, or in
you?
It’s
something I realized when in the emergency
room tonight,
Pain at the thought of losing you grips me, no
matter how I fight.
Somehow you slipped past every guard, you’re now
a part of me…
My God, Michael…what have you done
to me?
