A MESSAGE FROM...
OUR WORSHIPFUL MASTER...

Brethren,
It was a great honor to serve as Worshipful Master of DeSoto Lodge for 2002.   I now know some of what King Solomon must have gone through as he lead his brethren those many, many years ago.   I have learned a great deal from this privilege and could not have had a better group of Officers to work beside.   They overwhelmingly supported me, our mission, and our Lodge.   They accomplished so much in so little time it is amazing and I am so very proud of them.   I am happy to report to our members, they didn't leave much undone.   I wish our incoming Worshipful Master all the best of luck and hope his year fairs as well as mine.

                                                                                Faternally,
Timothy E. Cook, Sr., WM 2002

It is a great honor to have been elected to serve as the Worshipful Master of DeSoto Lodge for the Year of 2003.   I appreciate your faith and trust in me to lead the lodge through another year.   I will do my utmost to uphold the high ideals that masonry places on each of us.
I would like to thank our outgoing Master Tim Cook, Sr. for the great job he has done this year and for the hard work and dedication he has given to the Lodge.   He has accom- plished many difficult tasks, handled problems and led the Lodge in such a manner that it will make the Year of 2003 much easier for me to be Master of the Lodge.
The Officers you have elected and that I have appointed will do their best to make this an outstanding year.   I know I can count on each and everyone of you to give me your assistance and support.   On a different note, but still important; due to a lack of reservations and participation the Christmas Party has been cancelled.   Please have a happy and safe Holiday Season and come visit us at the Lodge.

                                                                                Faternally,
                                                                                Swayne W. Merrell, WM 2003

Sick and Visitation

We lost two members this month: Huber Hill Merriam and Charles A. Meyer, PM.   The Lodge and the Officers wish to extend our prayers and our deepest heart felt sympathy to the families of these great men in their time of sorrow.   We also just learned that our Junior Warden's father died.   Our prayers are with Dennis and his family in their time of sorrow.   Brother Byron Wilkinson and the Sick & Visitation Committee would like you, a family member or a friend to notify them of anyone that is sick, housebound, or in the hospital; so they can check on them.   You can reach Brother Byron Wilkinson at 386-9914 or leave a message at the Lodge at 529-4025.

January Stated Meeting Dinner

2003 Dues

Your 2003 Dues Cards have arrived from the Grand Lodge.   Your 2003 Dues are $20.00 and if you would like to send your dues in now, we would greatly appreciate it.   This would save us a little money on the printing and the postage if we do not have to send you a dues notice.   Some notices have already been sent out.   If you have any questions please contact the Secretary, Elbert Martz at 529-4025 or 837-4579.

Stated Meeting Drawings

Brother David P. Johnson's name was drawn in the Fish Bowl drawing which was worth $300.   Brother David Johnson was present to win the money.   He stated the $300 will go a long way towards Christmas gifts.   The January Stated Meeting making the Fish Bowl Drawing will be worth $50.   In our Stated Meeting Dinner Drawing Terri Major won the Grand Prize, which was a $50 Gift Certificate to Wolfe Chase Galleria.   Other drawing winners were Marguerite Wilkinson, Reva Brown, and Calvin Brown.   Our Grand Prize for the January Stated Meeting Dinner Drawing will be a $50 Gift Certificate to the Home Depot.

Grand Prize Winner

Congratulations to Brother Byron W. Wilkinson who was the Grand Prize Winner of the Stated Meeting Grand Prize Drawing.   The Grand Prize was change from a 27" color television to a VHS/DVD Player Recorder.   Brother Wilkinson was at all 12 of the Stated Meetings for 2002, which gave him 12 chances to win.

Awards Dinner

Awards & Widows Dinner

The Awards and Widows Dinner was a great success.   We saw our largest crowd of the year at this dinner.   There were easily over 60 people in attendance (I lost count at 60).   None of our Widows attended, but we do understand and wish them well.   The following awards were presented by the Worshipful Master and First Lady.   One of the highlights of the Awards Presentation was the plaque awarded to Byron Wilkinson, PM.   Byron was a guiding force and wealth of information all year for the new officers.   He filled in at several different positions when Officers were sick, out of town on emergencies or hospitalized.   Byron, with Marguerite's help and assistance, visited all brothers and relatives who were hospitalized or housebound that he knew of.
