DeSoto Lodge #299 F&AM - 2002 Annual Picnic
The Location

Mary Audrey Cook and Brandon Cook are walking toward the new Picnic site at the Shelby Farms Pavillion on Saturday, June 15, 2002 at Noon.

Hot but Shady

Some people eased over to the shady area at the end of the drive near where we played horseshoes, across from the pavillion.

Firing-up the grill

Gene Major, PM fires-up the charcoals on the grill at Shelby Farms for the hamburgers and hotdogs.   Everyone keeps moving over toward the shade, but the shade seemed to move as much as they did.   From left to right is our Treasurer Don Brown, PM; Brother Jack Downs and Trustees Jim Nichols, PM and one of our guests.

Fish Fry too!!

Guest Ric Wolbrecht and Rick Perkins, PM watch as Swayne Merrell, PM and Secretary Elbert Martx, PM cook up the fish, french fries and hush puppies.

Getting it ready

Several wivies are helping get things set-up for the feast.   They also brought great side dishes, some you can see on the table.

Games, Games, Games

There were several different card games going on, along with a checker match and a chess match.   There was something for everyone.

Some of the food

This is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the food we had at the picnic.   Somehow we didn't get a picture of ALL of it before it disappeared!

Hot off the Grill

Along with fried fish we had the usual hot dogs and hamburgers.   Here is the first batch of hamburgers for the day.

Location, Location, Location

As you can see this was a great location for our 2002 Annual Picnic.   We had plenty of room for eating, playing games and for the kids' "castle".

Kids' Castle

The kids had an absolute blast in this giant air castle.   They jumped and bounced until they couldn't jump or bounce anymore.   They were having so much fun it was very hard to get any of them to stop and eat thier lunch.   It did give some of the parents and grandparents and opportunity to visit with the other adults while they bounced around inside.
