Chapter 6: Flirtacioius Behaviour By: Rei Disclaimer: I don't own Digimon. With that said let's get on with the story. ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ English class was finally put to an end, and Sora and Mimi were more than relieved. There's only a certain amount of lectures one can take in a period of one hour. They slowly made their way towards the cafeteria, by joining the mass number of bodies heading in the same direction. Mimi was slowly drifting farther and farther away from Sora, being carried away by the crowd. Sora jumped up and tried to look over the number of heads, but to no avail. She may have been tall, but so were the people sorrounding her. 'Damnit!' She tried pushing through, only to be blocked off by another. About 15 feet away from Sora, Mimi was jumping up and down, waving her hands in the air in an attempt to get Sora's attention. "Sora! Sora!" She was now starting to agrivate the people around her. "Over here!" Sora was able to faintly hear Mimi's cry, so she attempted to push through. This time she succeeded and was now able to make out Mimi's bubblegum hair in the crowd. "Hey Mimi, go on ahead, i'll meet you in there." She yelled as loud as she could in the direction of her distressed friend. Mimi nodded and continued to let the crowd push her in the direction of the cafeteria. 'There are way too many people on this school.' She grumbled a bit, but was able to keep her comments to herself. ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ As soon as Sora was inside the cafeteria, she exited from the mass group of teenagers and to the side. She leaned up against a vending machine and sighed. 'I never thought that getting from one place to another could be so dangerous.' She fumbled around in her bag for a while, digging through all of the junk, in search for her wallet. 'Aha! There it is!' She smiled and triumphantlly held up the samll black prize in her hands. 'Now all I have to do, is find Mimi.' She turned around and scanned the area like a hawk. She grumbled when she realized just how hard that small task would really be. 'This is going to be like looking for a needle in a haystack.' She sighed, stuffed the wallet into her bag and set out to find Mimi. ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Eight minutes later, Sora was getting fed up. She had no clue where Mimi was, and the fact that the cafeteria was packed didn't help very much. 'Ok, she's not in line so, she must be looking for me as well.' She was about to set out on her never-ending journey again, when she heard a familiar male voice call her name. She whirlled around only to come face to chest with a very tall young man. She looked up, to find none other than the blue haired holder of reliability smiling kindly at her. "Hey there Jou." She gave him a short hug. Jou returned the friendly gesture and stuck his hand in his pockets. "So Sora, what are you doing here alone?" Sora shrugged and hugged the bookes in her hand to her chest. "Lookig for Mimi, but i'm not having much luck." He chuckled a bit and scratched the back of his head with his lest hand. "Well, i'll be more than happy to help you." Jou, being much taller than Sora, scanned the area intently. His eye's stopped on a familiar pink head sticking out in a small crowd. "Hey Sora, she's over by the candy machine." Sora immediately jumped up and grabbed Jou's wrist. "Come on Jou, let's go before we loose her again." She dragged him across the cafeteria towards the direction Jou was pointing at moments ago. "Mimi!" "Sora! I've been looking everywhere for you!" She smiled at the cinnamon haired girl in front of her. She then glanced over to Jou who was, at the moment, catching his breath. He wasn't as physically fit as Sora, so keeping up with her was quite a challenge. She smiled brightly and hugged the wheezing teenager. "Jou!" Jou, caught by suprise from the sudden outburst from his perky friend, instinctlvly hugged back. "Hey there Mimi." Mimi released her grip on Jou and then turned to Sora. She put one hand on her stomach and rubbed it around in small circles. "I'm so hungry let's go and get some food!" She grabbed Sora's wrist and bagan to pull her towards the lunch line. "You too Jou." She grabbed his wrist and pulled both of them with great ease. Sora smiled at Mim's never-ending eagerness. 'She may be small, but she sure has a stong grip.' Sora glanced back at Jou, who looked ready to faint. 'Poor Jou, it looks like he's getting motion sickness.' She resisted the urge to laugh as she allowed herself to be pulled by Mimi towards the lunch line. ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Jou had left a little while after waiting in line. He had a club meeting to attend and he wouldn't miss it for the world. So, there stood Sora and Mimi, unsure of where to sit. Mimi scanned the area with her light brown eye's, looking for a place to sit. "Sora, it looks like there's nowhere to sit." A small frown formed on her lips. Sora gave her friend a reassuring smile. "Hey Meem's don't pout, you might get wrinkles." Mimi smiled a bit at Sora's comment. "Come on, i'm sure there's a least a couple tables vacant." Mimi's frown dissappeared and she smiled brightly. "Yea, you're right Sor!" With that they both set fourth for a place to sit. ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Mimi was intently looking around for a place to sit, but Sora's mind was wandering, rather than on the task at hand. 'It seem's so segregated.' Her eye's wandered to the far left corner. There sat the "geeks" of the school, clad in suspenders and pocket protectors. Next to them were the punks with their mohawks and ska music blasting throughout the area around them. Across them were the Drama students. The majority of them were holing up scripts, proboblly rehearsing for a play. Next to them were the art students, with their clothes covered in dry paint of all colors. To the right of them were the anime fanatics, gathered around the latest manga of Angel Sanctuary and marveling at all the bishonen and bishojou. Across them were the cheerleaders. They were all gouped together in their short skirts and sweaters, bursting with school spirit. Behind them were the jocks. All with at least some type of sport equipment seated next to them. To the right of them were the "teenyboppers." They were all giggling and brushing their hair, talking about all of the cute guys at the school. Across them were the student leaders. The one's that were in charge of the student body and most likely to become politicians. In the middle of all this were "the populars." Sora's eye's lingered over that table for some time. There sat Yamato Ishida, slowly sipping a can of soda while he and his friends disscussed some topic or another. 'Yama.' She sighed dreamilly. Mimi observered mutely as Sora let out a dreamy sigh as she simply stared at Yamato. 'Can she get any more obvious?' She's not going to get anywhere if she just stands there gawking. Think Mimi, think!' She stood ther for a couple of seconds until... 'I've got it!' Mimi smoothed out the wrinkles in her skirt and ran a hand through her soft pink tresses. She loosened the colar of her shirt and cleared her throat. "Ehem. Hey Sora, if you stare any longer you might burn a hole in the side of his head." Sora abruptly turned around, blushing furiously. "I wasn't staring." She nervously scratched the back of her head and laughed. She looked over to Mimi who was giving her a doubtful look. 'She's not buying it.' She sighed in defeat and lowered her gaze to the ground. "I can't help it. I probobly look like one of his star-crazed fans." Mimi gave her a sympathetic smile and gave her a light pat on the back. "Don't think like that Sor, you're so much better than that." Sora looked at Mimi with confusion. "You're the child of Love and you're one of the most caring people i've met. Plus you know the saying." She paused a moment when Sora shook her head. "Friendship is the road to Love, and no two people in the world would know that better than you and Matt." Sora smiled and straightened herself. "Thanx Meem's." Mimi smiled brightly. "Hey, that's what best friends are for!" She then gave Sora and little push in Yamato's direction. "Go on now! Show him what us Digi-gals are made of!" Sora smiled at her friends ecouragement and headed towards "the populars" table. She nervously fingered her crest and clutched it for a momment; a habit she developed a while ago. 'Here goes nothing.' ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Yamato was sitting with his regular group at lunch. He really wasn't paying atention to what anyone was saying, his mind was drifting towards a certain cinnamon haired holder of Love. 'Why can't I stop thinking about her?' He ran his hand through his soft blonde hair. 'It's because you like her.' 'But she's my friend, my best friend at that.' Yamato was now contradicting himself. 'I think i'm going crazy!' "Hey Matt, are you ok?" Yamato turned his head to see Jay, the drummer, giving him a concerned look. Yamamto waved his hand and gave his friend weak smile. "Yea, i'm fine." Yamato took a glance around the table, only to find the rest of the table giving him skeptical looks. 'Oh great, they don't believe me.' He took a deep breath and answered in his usual calm and collective manner. "Really guys, i'm fine." Taki, the gutarist, shrugged his shoulders. "Whatever you say Matt." He then turned to Jay, Motoki, Morioko and the rest of the table and continued his story. "So, like I was saying. There was these really two hot new girls in my English class. I asked the pink haired one out, but she said she had a boyfriend. I would've asked the other one out, but you know Masaki's class." They nodded their heads in confirmation. He was about to continue when a group of girls came rushing towards ther table. "Hormonally crazed fans at ten o'clock." Yamato rolled his eye's in response. 'This is the last thing I need right now.' Four girls with way too much make-up and too much perfume walked towards the table and giggled. They had somehow altered their school uniforms so that they're much tighter and shorter than usual. One red head sauntered her way up to them and leaned on the table so her elbows were resting on the surface. "Hey there guys!" Yamato turned his head and took another sip of his coke. The rest of the table rolled their eye's and continued with the conversation they were having before they were so rudely interrupted. Taichi, who had just showed up, looked the girls over. "Trying a little too hard, aren't we?" One brunette brushed up against him and smiled coyly. "Hey there Kamiya! Wanna go out sometime?" She purred softly. Taichi groaned in annoyance. He may be a flirt, but even he has to draw the line somewhere and slutty in nowhere on his list. "I'm not that desperate." The rest of the table resisted the urge to laugh. Yamato then decided to pry off the other three girls that somehow made their way onto him and regarded them in a cold tone. "Why don't you take his advice and leave. You know that this is our place and is cleary a no slut zone." Yamato was fed up with the constant fondling, but somehow managed to keep his cool. The girls all pouted and walked away in defeat. "Man Matt, you really know how to get a girls attention don't you?" Taichi let out a small laugh and took a seat next to him. Yamato didn't even dignify that with a response. "So, how was the math test?" Taichi lowered his gaze and sulked. Yamato gave him a weak smile. "That bad huh?" He didn't even look up, he just played with the food, pushing it to different sides of his plate. Yamato took this as a hint and punched him lightly in the shoulder. "Hey man, you know you'll bring it up." Taichi looked up and rubbed his arm a bit. "Yea, you're right." Yamato looked at him and gave him a cocky smile. "Of course i'm right, I am Yamato Ishida after all." Taichi punched him in the arm, which led to a "friendly" little fight between the two. The rest of the table looked on with interest, knowing that once Yamato and Taichi start rough housing no one will be able to break the two up. ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Sora was walking very slowly towards her destination. Her eye's became angry when she saw four girls come to their table and flirt shamelessy with practically everyone, espcially Yamato. 'Those sluts!' She now had her small hands tightly clenched and her knuckles were beginning to turn white. She smiled inwardlly when she saw them rejected by Yamato, Taichi and everyone else at the table. 'That's right. He goes for class, not trash.' Sora then drew in a deep breath and continued to walk towards "the populars" when she noticed Yamato and Taichi start to punch one another. She rolled her eye's and quickened her pace towards them. 'You'd think after all this time they would grow out of this stage.' ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Yamato and Taichi had now drawn the attention of many innocent bystanders. The whole school were now used to their fights and found them to be quite entertaining. What they found more entertaining was when people tried to break them up. It was a task that just wasn't possible, and when someone tried there were always hurt in some way or another. Breaking up a famous Kamiya and Ishida fight was something yet to be achieved by their fellow school mates. The only people that had some impact on their rough housing were Jou Kido and Izzy Izumi, but even they could only get so far. Even the faculty members had given up, so therefore the fight continued. "Man Tai, you hit like a girl." Yamato doged easily and swung at Tai's left side. He doged as well and countered with another hit. It made contact and knocked Yamato back a little, but he was still standing. Yamato smiled and wiped the persperation from his forehead. "Like I said, you hit like a girl." Taichi then lunged at Yamato, so they were now rolling on the ground. "I'll show you who hit's like a girl." The two were now getting more into the fight, and it was getting more and more roudy. Taichi was about to make another swing at Taichi when a figure came in between them and stood there with their hands placed on his and Yamato's chest, to keep them away. Yamato looked down to the person who had the gut's to break up thier rough housing, but froze at the sight before him. She was calmy holding them at arms length. Her ruby red lips were formed into a pout and her hair was gently sweeping over her face. 'Sora?' Sora slowly withdrew her hand from Taichi's chest and let out an exsapperated sigh. "Will you two ever grow up?" Taichi put his hands down and gave her a goofy grin. "Hey there Sor. Kinda feel's like old times, huh?" Sora rolled her eye's and smiled at the two. "It's been two years, but I guess you've both kept up this little habit of yours. Can you two ever go a day without beating the crap out of one another?" Yamato glanced down at her delicate hand, which was still placed gently on his chest; not that he was complaining. A mischevious grin formed on his face. 'Maybe I can make her blush again, she looks cute that way.' He cleared his throat to get her attention, and it worked. She took one look at her hand and pulled it away, as if she had got burned. She then turned a brilliant shade of red and turned her head. Yamato chuckled a bit and smiled. 'Yup, I was right!' He shrugged and ran a hand through his golden tresses. "Hey there Sora, care to join us for lunch." Sora looked up and gave him a dazzling smile, that melted his heart. "Sure," she then turned to face the both of them and wagged a finger in front of their faces, "but you two better not start another fight. Once a day is my limit." Taichi and Yamato both smiled and Yamato lead her to "the populars" table where they all sat down. Yamato looked her over and smiled. Not many people were able to carry themselves well in the school's uniform, but Sora made it look stunning. 'She look's good in a skirt.' Sora was self-concoiuslly playing with her fingers under the table. She caught Yamato looking at her out of the corner of her eye. She blushed a lovely shade of pink, which made Yamato's smile grow even wider. 'Why is he looking at me like that? Is there something on my face?' She slowly took in a shallow breath and turned to face him. "Yama, is there a reason you're staring at me?" She smiled playfully and arched an eyebrow at him. Yamato was suprised she had cought him staring at her and blushed a bit. He leaned in closer so his lips were mere centimeters away from her ears. "Do I have to have a reason to look at you?" His breath cascaded down her neck and she shivered. Sora blushed for the hundreth time that day. 'Does he even know what he's doing to me!?' She slowly gathered what little composure she had and turned her head so they were now eye level. 'No backing down now.' Sora gently placed her index finger and traced it down the side of his cheeck. She smiled coyly and replied to him with a seductive whisper. "No, but it was just a question." She then rose to her feet, gathered her things and bid her good bye's to everyone. As she was walking away she kept mentally screaming at herself. 'I did not just do that!' Yamato watched her retreating figure. She seemed to glide more that walk. His face was stained a light crimson color. He was stunned. 'I never knew she would react that way, although i'm not complaining.' Taichi just watched the whole scene before him with much interest. He mischeviouslly stroked his chin and grinned. 'Hmm, so the plot thickens.' ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ TBC>>> |
