After a couple of songs (Silver Machine and Holidays In The Sun) I decided the best place for me to be was in the mosh (although I detest that word), by the end of I Wanna Be Me I had some how ended up three people from the front, and hell that was a rough place to be. Now I ain't exactly a little fella but I had real trouble staying upright, and for that matter breathing! But it was mostly pretty friendly, apart from the occasional cunt (who was dealt with appropriately by the rest of the crowd) The hoses had been on the crowd since the Dropkick Murphys were on, and boy was I glad of the water. For some reason people were taking off one shoe and lobbing it on the stage, no idea why, but this made things a bit desperate as people near the front and with tens of thousands of people pushing from behind were crouching down to undo their shoe laces! Personally I was keeping my steel toe capped boots on, and was ####ing glad of them! Soon they hammered into Substitute, with Lydon singing, -'and I love you' to Steve Jones and Jones replying, -'and I love you too!' Submission was pretty smart, with Lydon singing the lyrics to 'Hello I Love You' by the Doors, and All Day And All Of The Night by the Kinks as well as Religion by Public Image Ltd (I think). One of the highlights for me was No Fun, dunno why as I've never been a particular fan of that song before, but the whole crowd was singing so strong that you could barely hear the band! By the end of No Fun I'd had enough of not being able to breath, hoisting people back onto their feet and having sweaty half naked bodies squelching around me so I escaped the throng. When I retired to a safe distance I was dripping wet head to toe, and it wasn't the hose as that only got my face, and what sweet relief that was! I spent the rest of the set on the sidelines dancing with a couple of mates and making the most of the water taps that dotted the edge of the floor. Having the taps was a damn fine idea I must say, one of the many smart ideas of the day that I havn't seen at gigs before. After EMI the band stumbled off stage, but not before Lydon has said, 'If you want more you know what to do'. - Yes we do, stand here for 5 minutes and wait for them to come back out regardless! When they made their inevitable return they started with the Sid Vicious rendition of My Way which the crowd sang so Lydon didn't remember the words. It should have been cool, but in reality it was kinda stupid. Other cool bit worth a mention was the security guards hammering Lydon in the chest with the hose pipes, and the girls on the side of the stage taking tons of pictures of the band then lobbing the cameras into the crowd!
So to sum it all up, if you're not a fan then you probably did'nt miss much, but if you are a fan and didn't go because of some kinda principles, then sorry bubba, you missed out!

The Pistols were amazing. They may be older but they are still better than most new bands around, it was a real honour to say that I was there. Big shout to 'And You Will Know Us By The Trail Of Dead', they put in a great set and nearly stole the show.
The only downer was the twat chucking coins at some of the bands. They thought they were hard did they? Cowards...

Representing New York City....

Hi. I was actually at The Crystal Palace show for The Sex Pistols. My friend Nick who lives in Portsmouth UK, bought the tickets. When I finished work in NYC on Friday, July 26, I went straight to Kennedy Airport, and got on Virgin Atlantic to Heathrow. I landed in England on Saturday morning, July 27. I met up with my friends, and we went straight to The Crystal Palace. After the show, I went back to my friend Nick's house, and on July 28, I went to London's Heathrow Airport, and boarded ta Virgin Atlantic to Kennedy Airport, NYC. I was back in my apartment in New York by 10:30PM, and back to work on Monday morning at 8:30AM. Wow, what a weekend!. When I got to work, I was asked how my weekend was, and my reply was ...I went to England for the weekend to see The Sex Pistols. I had to stop and think about what I said for a second, but it was an exxperience that I'll never forget! The highlights of the show for me was seeing The Pistols perform Silver Machine, Substitute, Through My Eyes, and Johnny's attempt at My Way. I just thought I'd share this with you. -
