Public Image Ltd... the long awaited first album was launched on December 8th 1978. Virgin were a little worried about releasing the album as it contains two songs that can be seen as full on attacks on the church. The album was a bit of a surprise to punk purist's at the time with tracks like 'Theme' and 'Fodderstompf' being as long as they are, and the whole album has a disco/anti disco feel to it. The song 'Low Life' thought by most to be about Malcolm McLaren, was actually written about Sid - as John says in the liner notes to 'Plastic Box'. The cover and inside cover feature the four band members in mock-ups of popular magazine covers, with the excellent....'Public Image would like to thank absolutely nobody.Thankyou.' |
