Sex Pistols 'Live'
New Zealand Popscore 1977

Johnny Rotten and the Sex Pistols may be the most sought after (mucisians?) of the moment in England. Their success ain't gonna be stopped by any one! (In spite of the BBC's ban on air play of thier record.) They were even stricken from the National top 30.

In spite of the boycott and anti-punk demonstrations, in spite of the constant cancellation of concerts, their popularity continues to mushroom.

The fact is, they don't really need the extra publicity to be in, and stay in the limelight. Their single 'God Save The Queen' is selling like hotcakes, and it is the least played record in public of all time! Over 200,000 copies have been sold in a few weeks.

Rotten and company, who can't move around London without being arrested by police for kicking up rows, or being beaten up by the 'oppostion', know that they have to strike while the iron is hot if they want to have something left of their stormy 'Punkadventure'!

They gave their manager (an ex dealer in sex articles) the wise advice to lessen his profits and sign nothing without their consent. Word has it that advice was given quite forcefully, and when he did'nt wholeheartedly agree first off, they underlined their point by giving hima demonstration. So says the story from the 'inside'.

Although the Pistols concerts are banned in the centre of London, the entire city seems to emigrate when they are playing in the suburbs!

Popscore has it on good authority that we may soon see the Sex Pistols doing gigs in New Zealand. In which case we should be able to give you a smashing live review of, to quote Johnny Rotten, 'The best pop group of all time'.

We'll leave you with a report from our correspondent in London. 'Johnny Rotten and the Sex Pistols are a hurricane raging by and leaving trail of destruction...'
