A Note on Spies By RM I remember talking with a friend of mine when someone brought up the subject of infiltration. He stated the undercover police and agents who infiltrate the movements usually look much more 'muscular' and 'in shape' and act in certain behaviors which can easily be noticed by activists and others who attend the protests etc. Other friends of mine have also expressed the same view without considering that not all police have the same type of build or that police could easily use 'normal' looking people who are paid or bribed. Yet what I would like to bring up is to the extent at which the state is capable of in terms of infiltration or the creation of state spies by the intelligence agencies. In the 1950's there was a project by the CIA entitled Bluebird and later renamed Artichoke which mainly dealt with experiments in behavior modification and psychological behaviot modification and psychological control. 1. The project was successful in experiments dealing with the creation of Manchurian Candidates that is state spies. The methods used were intensive hypnosis, and post-hypnosis triggers (selected code words for commands) and deliberate creation of disasociative identity disorder. 2. THrough such methods seperate identities are created in one person. 3. Meaning it is possible the spy could live in ways which oppose the current social order, truly believing in what they are against and not remember that they are originally form intelligence if questioned by people who do not know how to uncondition they hypnosis or do not knowthe hypnosis trigger phrases. 4. The intelligence who do know the hypnosis trigger could then after stating the key phrase extract information form the spy or possibly direct them to carry out other operations. 5. Through such methods it therfore could be very difficult for those opposing the current order to detect such a spy. The methods I have stated above to create spies through disasociative identity disorder and hypnosis is documented as successful in experiments in the 1950's. 5. The purpose of this writing is to bring up the point that the state has the ability to create and control spies which appear to have much more in common with those who are resisting the social order than what is generally thought. 1.
