WSDP Radio (89.3, then 88.1 FM) joined the growing noise of FM radio on February 14th, 1972.  The program taught hundreds of students the fundamentals of radio broadcasting, and at least one station manager the necessity of alcohol.  To honor the alumni of this fine program, and to relive the nightmare that was mine as Manager for four years, I offer this website.  It will be fairly rudimentary but hopefully, enjoyable for wizdippers of all ages.

Where are you now?  Any recollections to share?  Trying to find another staffer?  Still after that money I owe you?  This is the place to make (some of) it happen.
Temporarily Unavailable
Okay, Santa is never going to bring me a new scanner, so do me a favor and send your WSDP photos to me.  Don't be shy.  I can't find anything out there on the web that tells the history of WSDP, so until something decent comes along, this is the place.  Send your photos (no more than two at a time) to: david_h_snyder@hotmail.com
Don't forget to write a caption.

They're, like, so gnarly
The 1987-88 Directors pause to wonder what the Station Manager is doing this time.  Standing: Amy Champlin, Bethann Gyorke, Dan Johnston, Jeff Umbaugh, Gary Sandel, Eric Varton, Erin Trame.  Sitting: Patty Williamson, April Bankowski.  Missing: T'Pau and Whitesnake.

The 1989 WSDP Banquet featured Brian Roden and Kim Tyburski arguing over who was the best Who drummer; and Twila Graller telling Lane Beatty (no PhD, just an MD)  that Snyder said he'd never amount to anything.
Come See Us Again Soon
Like all state supported "art," this webpage is a work in progress.  There's lots more to come after I superglue my scanner back together.
So, When's Kickoff?
Bill Smola, Billy Hoag, Jim Heller, Todd Chatman, Lisa Preddy, and Joe Slezak discover how to get into a game for free.  Station Manager Jeff Cardinal reportedly got tired writing so many press passes.
Seidelman, Unplugged
Staff Advisor John Seidelman (1973-88) often told students where to plug in.  Evidently the janitors have thrown away the Marti unit again, so there won't be any broadcast tonight (see his left hand).  I'm told Jake still hates his nickname.
Founding Father
Original Staffer Rob Milford (WSDP '73) demonstrates to the young punks how it was done back in the day and how it should be done now in this
Observer photo dated 1/21/82.
Most of the yahoos (not Mr. Brown) looking on are now said to be in jail or halfway homes.

Bulletin:
Another budget crisis threatens WSDP

Bill Keith says the school board is considering cutting funding for WSDP.  This was a chronic problem in the 1980's and the station survived due in part to the efforts of alumni.
