The shape of the stone seems to be natrual.  It was most likely caused from being in a river.  However, the tree sets of notches do not seem natural.  It is most likely a net sinker.  They would have picked the stone up from the river or where ever they were fishing.  The notches are where the stone was tied to the net.  Great find.
