Day One of our Nevada Trip

Ghost Town Trip
Page Two of the Trip
These are the pictures that we took while on a trip to Nevada running down ghost towns.  These towns are located around Ely, which is where we stayed for the night.  It was a great time and a good vacation.  We spent Saturday and Sunday chasing the old buildings and rattlesnakes.
This is the first town that we visited.  It was a mining town which had a tramway to transport the ore from the mine to the mill.  We spent quite a few hours here playing around and eating lunch.  You can see Rachel waiting for me on the bottom right.
As we were leaving the town we saw al old building out by itself.  This is the old waterway that turned the mill and what is left of the old house.
Rachel standing in the doorway of a building which served as a waystation for wagons and horseman as they mad their way towards California.
A mining town that sits below the tailing piles.  The mine is still current and active.  If they put much more tailings on the pile they may start to bury the town.
This is the famous place that I found, after lots of looking, a sidewinder rattlesnake.  After this encounter I decided that it was time to call it a day.
After a long day this is a common sight.  This is the wonderful motel which we stayed in.  There are not a lot of good motels in Ely, and fewer that will let you keep Tara in the room.
