POLKA DATERS
1 1/4 cup (8 oz.) chopped dates
1 cup, hot water
1 cup, margarine, softened
1 1/4 cups sugar
2 eggs
1 3/4 cups flour
1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. vanilla
6 oz. chocolate chips
1/2 cup chopped pecans
Mix dates and water. Set aside to cool. Beat margarine, sugar and eggs until creamy. Gradually stir in flour and soda. Stir in date mixture. Add vanilla and half the chips. Spread in greased 15 X 10 X 1 inch pan. Top with remaining chips and pecans. Bake at 350* for 30 minutes. Cool and cut into bars. Yields 30. Easy.
