STRAWBERRY CAKE 1


1 stick margarine
1/2 cup Crisco
1 3/4 cups sugar
1 (6oz.) pkg.strawberry jello
1/2 cup fresh strawberries
2 2/3 cups all-purpose flour
3 1/2 tsp. baking powder
3/4 tsp. salt
1 1/2 cup milk
1 tsp. vanilla flavoring
4 egg whites, stiffly beaten

Cream margarine, Crisco and sugar. Add jello. Sift flour, baking powder and salt. Add alternately with milk to creamed mixture. Add strawberries and egg whites. Pour into 3 greased and floured cake pans. Bake at 325* until tests clean with toothpick, approximately 25 minutes.

Icing:
1 box confectioners sugar
1/4 stick margarine
1/2 cup fresh strawberries

Beat together confectioners sugar, margarine and fresh strawberries. Frost between layers and sides of cake.
