There is a great deal of things one could say about Dilandau. In many anime series, the vilian's character is often more compelx and intersting than the heros. And Escaflowne is no different. Dilandau is a temperamental, sadistic psycho with a love of fire. If it is possible for Dilandau to love anything. He is the comander of the Dragon Slayers, a group of young men his age who must capture the Escaflowne and Van Fanel. A noticeable feature about Dilandau is the huge scar on his cheek. When Van and Dilandau fought breifly his face was scared by Van. Dilandau is very vain and swore he'd have revenge on Van for causeing damage to his face. This later on becomes a obsession.
