Here's a LEGO Woolly Mammoth I built today.  See the exhaust pipe piece used as tusks?
March 16, 2001

LEGO archaeologist Gail Storm announces the discovery of a new prehistoric beast from the Red Bucket Formation, currently located in the tv room.  "This mammoth is wonderfully preserved," said Storm in a recent interview.  "We suspect it was constructed no earlier than this afternoon."  The mammoth is 9 cm tall at the top of its head.  Its unusual tusks are particularly interesting to LEGO scientists.  "They're the exact same pieces that make the exhaust pipes on some racecars and airplanes," she explained.  "Before the discovery of this mammoth, we didn't know if that piece could have other uses."  The mammoth will be placed on the LEGO Shelf of Natural History later today.
