Frequently Asked Questions

Q. Sounds good, but what is a Dispatcher anyway?

A. Click here to find out (Thanks to the American Dispatch Federation)

Q. What is the job outlook like since 9/11 for dispatchers?

A. Strangely enough, the job market has remained about the same, dispatchers are such a vital part of an airline, the companies are hesitant to down-size them. Our parent company, Falcon Air Express, for example is growing. We are preparing to double our dispatch department.

Q. Why should I choose the Falcon Air Academy?

A. We feel that we have some major advantages over other schools, such as:

1. We offer you real world experience in the Falcon Air Express dispatch center, where you will work with dispatchers handling real flights. Most other Dispatcher courses can only tell you what is in the books, with no way to get the feel of what the real job will be like.

2. We not only teach the subjects we are all current and qualified working Aircraft Dispatchers.

3. The class is taught by the Academy's President & Chief Instructor, Rob Combs, who also serves as the Chief Dispatcher for Falcon Air Express.

4. We provide a better learning environment, because we don't just teach from the book, we teach, then take you to the actual dispatch center to show you how what you have learned is applied.

5. The manuals we use are the actual manuals from an operating airline.

6. We teach on 8 different Boeing 727-200 aircraft, with different engines and weight capabilities.

7. We will be including, as early as the March 4th class, teaching the Boeing 737-300 in addition to the Boeing 727-200.

8. We don't just teach you enough to get your license, we teach you as if you were going to go right to work for us.

10. Our price $2750.00 ($2500.00 course + $250 deposit) for the 6 week course, which includes all books, testing, tutoring, deposits, and class supplies.

11. When you have completed the class, you will be able to list your experience as an intern with Falcon Air Express on your resume, a definite advantage for someone without any aviation experience.

Q. Do I need any previous aviation experience?

A. No, but during the class you will gain experience as an intern with Falcon Air Express.

Q. I need a place to stay, do I have to set it up?

A. No, we can set it up for you, housing ranges from $800 to $5000 for the 6 weeks, depending on what you want in the areas of comfort, style, and location. Let us know when you apply if you need housing.

Q. What about job placement?

A. When you enroll, we enroll you in A.E.P.S. (Airline Employment Placement Service). AEPS is like a resume clearing house, allowing you to search for openings, and employers to search for qualified applicants. AEPS will do a background check of you, which will be available to prospective employers (Saving them time and money). For more info visit them at www.aeps.com.

Also, Falcon Air Express hires dispatchers directly out of the class when there are openings in the Dispatch Center.

Q. How does your correspondence course specifically work? Am I at home the whole time?

A. The correspondence course is usually 6 weeks or so of home study, taking chapter tests and sending them back to the school. When the home study has been completed, we send you to a local testing facility to take the ADX written. You then attend a 2 week course here at the school, ending with the FAA practical test, and your license.

Q. How much does this cost?

A. The Basic (6 week)class price is $2750 ($2500, plus a transferable $250 Tuition). The advanced class and the correspondence course price is $1750($1500, plus a transferable $250 Tuition). This price includes all testing, books, tutoring, and class supplies. No hidden charges. The only other money you will need is for your own personal spending (meals, laundry, etc.)

Q. How many people are normally in a class??

A. Our classrooms are certified for 25 students, but we limit our class size to 10 students. An instructor divided among 10 students can teach with more quality than if they are divided among 25 students.
