#407 - USS ANUBIS: Rikar: Day 4 - 14:12 ("Start")

Stardate: 60298.1412
Setting: USS ANUBIS: Array Section, Deck A-4, IGC
The young woman sat on the edge of her seat, supervising the tactical
scans as they were being performed by the Sec/Tac officer on the bridge… Lt.
Seth had shifted all of the available sensors to the region of TOLAR IV
where the Shillian had presumably saw a large metallic structure become visible for only a fraction of a second. Although this sort of scan would have normally been the responsibility of the IGC’s personnel, the redheaded woman had been more than happy to let Rawyvin take control of this little endeavour… just in case there had been something hiding down there.
In the meantime though, the young woman had been keeping a close watch
on the 2 shuttles as they continued to make their way to the icy planet’s
surface apparently unaware or unworried about what the CSciO had seen…
or at least what she had believed to have seen. Every so often though, the
ANUBIS’ ExO glanced over to the monitors that reported on the outer
range of the aft sensors, not exactly liking the idea that they had lost sight
of the Hirogen Venatic-Class Long-Range Tracker in order to be able to scan
the planet before the shuttles could land.

Stardate: 10298.1415
Setting: TROJAN HORSE: Flight Deck
The ILO’s eyes narrowed as she followed the FOOL’s GOLD enter the
atmosphere of the frozen world… ENAII’s training and experience making her
anticipate the worst. While they were going through the planet’s atmosphere their sensors would be momentarily disrupted rendering them exceptionally
vulnerable… but as bad as the situation could have been the blond hair
woman did not display any outward signs of concerns. The shuttle’s sensors
had not reported any sort of threat from either the planet or orbit and if
there was something out there that her sensors had failed to see… she knew
that the ANUBIS had not been all that far behind, keeping a vigilant watch
over their final approach.
"Ouch… that little weasel wasn't kidding when he said to dress warmly…
the temperature at what appears to be our landing coordinates is -36
Celsius. Remind me to request an extended leave of absence to RISA after this
mission is done and over with… I think I am going to need at least a few weeks
to thaw." The Marine bodyguard jokingly offered, just before the shuttle
shook as they entered the atmosphere and their sensors went dead for a brief
period of time.
“There is still time for things to heat up.” Enaii unemotionally
pointed out, still convinced that things would not unfold as easily as they would have liked them to.

Stardate: 10298.1416
Setting: Unknown Planet: Old Looking Corridors
Not knowing where ‘here’ was, Ens. Summers had been more than happy to
follow Luke Onison, the Starfleet officer she had been imprisoned with…
the alternative having been for her to remain in the cell where the 2 of
them had been held captive for far too long. The ease of their escape still
lingered in Lea’s mind, but the taste of freedom had been more than
sufficient to make the former aCMO of the USS ANUBIS continue to follow
the charismatic man without asking any questions.
As the 2 carefully navigated the ancient looking stone corridors,
Summers could not help but wonder as to the original purpose of this place and
where in the galaxy it had been located. If an escape proved to be
impossible, it would be good for them to know where they were in order to direct any possible rescuer in the right direction… a general homing broadcast
having already been figured to be highly unlikely by the woman who did possess
some Intel experience.
"What is that smell?" Lea inquired in a whispered voice, barely
managing to keep the gag reflex from making her empty the content of her stomach… how ever little there had been there.
"Not sure… but I just hope that it’s not dinner." Luke replied with a
very soft chuckle. Although Lea did not know this, the smell had provided
the double agent with information that he sought… such as the readiness of
his people to move on to the next phase of his master plan.

Stardate: 10298.1418
Setting: VENTURE CAPITAL: Sickbay
The last thing the Marine remembered had been beaming back to the ship
and ordering that a course be set for TOLAR IV. Looking up at the bright
lights on the ceiling quickly made 2nd Lt. Pravat realise that he had not
dosed off but had been brought into the freighter’s medical facility… injured in some way judging by his immediate inability to move as he had wanted to.
“Relax sir… you don’t want those stitches to rip open.” Tes’Karka
quickly responded with as she rush to the MCO’s side to stop him from trying to get up as he had intended to.
“What happened?” Pravat inquired, the haze that enveloped his thoughts
lingering for longer than he had cared for.
“You were injured during our escape from the Hirogens.” The Klingon
Marine reported, a hint of concern having appeared on her rugged visage.
Like a tsunami, the memories of what had transpired inside the hollowed
asteroid came rushing back to the Marine who immediately turned his
head in search of the 1 soldier he knew had been severely injured.
"How is he?" The MCO asked, referring to Private Tony Dyba whom he
clearly remembered having falling into his arms after having been shot by the
Hirogen Alpha.
Tes’Karka said nothing and glanced at the medic still working to save
the Private‘s life, her deafening silence speaking volumes as to the odds
of success in the efforts to save the Marine‘s life.
"Help me up… I have to see him… before it is too late." Pravat ordered…
he knew that getting up right now had not been a good idea, but staying
put while 1 of his men fought for their live had been for the MCO a less
acceptable course of action.

Stardate: 10298.1420
Setting: NEW ALEXANDRIA: Koneki’s Office
[[Admiral… Lt. Tal is here to see you.]] Allyson reported over the comm
system, drawing the base’s CO out of his deep thoughts. Not having
heard from the ANUBIS in several days had not been something unusual
considering the type of mission they had been on, but the Admiral had been unable to push the gnawing feeling out of his mind that something was terribly
wrong with the ANUBIS and her crew… but there was nothing that he or anyone
else could do about it.
"Send her in…" Koneki replied with a lengthy sigh, forcing himself to
return to his duties and responsibilities to the base and its personnel.

Stardate: 10298.1422
Setting: USS ANUBIS: Bridge
It had been 7 minutes since the shuttles had entered the planet’s
atmosphere and still there had been nothing more reported about the strange
metallic reading or the shuttles themselves.
"Report." James demanded as he glanced over to his Sec/Tac officer who
had spent every second since the CSciO’s report trying to confirm or deny
what she had reported.
“Nothing… sensors, infrared, radiation, everything is coming back
negative. As far as I can tell there is nothing down there that is remotely
metallic other than the 2 shuttles. My guess is that Maya made a mistake.”
Rawyvin offered, his words and the way that they had been perceived by others
on the bridge having been worlds apart.
“Now hold on a cotton picking minute… Maya may be annoying at times,
but she doesn’t make mistakes.” The imposing CEO jumped in with, defending the
CSciO’s honour like the knight that he was at heart.
“Thanks… I think.” Maya interjected as she turned to look at David to
offer him a quizzical grin reflecting the confusion she felt about his
defence of her honour or the insult he had inadvertently offered to the rest of the bridge officers.
“I don’t think that what he meant.” The half Human, half Romulan Ops
officer added obviously having understood what the Sec/Tac had meant by his
earlier comment.
“Mistake or not… I want an explanation… so get to it people.” The CO
ordered, bringing the discussion to an abrupt end and refocusing the
attention of his officers on the task at hand. Enaii and Nikita were
now on the planet and if there was something hiding down there, they would
need to figure it out… and fast.
