Setting: Unknown Planet: Corridor

Lea laid on the floor at Luke’s feet, bathing in a relaxed posture showing not a single care in the chaos of the universe around her. Loki could be proud of what he had done, the woman having completely fallen for his charms. Even in this state of unconsciousness the SFI agent seemed to trust the man to keep her safe. He would do just that, as long as it suited his needs.

“You can get up now,” Luke said to the man Lea had believed had been knocked out before she became incapacitated. “She won’t be getting up anytime soon.”

“You know,” the other man grumbled, rubbing the lower part of his jaw, “you really didn’t need to hit me that hard. She wasn’t looking in our direction.”

A maniacal grin slowly formed on Luke’s lips. “I couldn’t take any chances. It had to appear real, just in case.”

“Yah, well next time get someone else to play the role of your punching bag. That right cross that you hit me with really hurt,” the man snarled, looking down at the unconscious woman at the feet of his employer. “What did you do to her?”

“Nothing for you to be concerned about,” Loki replied with authority, sending the other man back several steps. “Judging by the smell, am I to gather that the compound is ready?”

“Only in its preliminary stage,” the other man replied, “by the time the process is complete there will be no smell and the final product will be hundreds of time more lethal. A single bottle of that stuff will be able to eliminate all life in a hundred kilometre radius.”

“Good,” Loki sadistically grinned, “but that compound is only meant to be used as a last course of action. If we can get our hands on the Mind Source and figure out how that blasted Mind Stone works, there will be no need for us to resort to such a barbaric method. I would prefer to have people be in adoration of us instead of dead, but the latter is still an acceptable alternative if it leads to our achieving our final goal.”

“Talking of which,” the man said, tilting his head to one side, “what is our final goal? I’ve been talking to a few people and no one knows exactly what you are planning. There are several rumours and theories, but nothing concrete. What is it that you are after?”

Loki’s piercing eyes narrowed to slits, showing that the mastermind of this little operation had not appreciated having his motives questioned. Slowly his eyes returned to their normal shape, making the man breath a sigh of relief. The intensity of the stare he had been the target of had been enough to make him fear for his life.

“I can’t tell you everything,” Luke said, moving next to the man and placing his arm across his shoulders, “but I can tell you this,” the smooth talking double agent said reaching around and snapping the other man’s neck in a single swift motion. “You won’t be asking anymore questions,” Onison added to the limp body on the floor, adding a kick to the dead man’s ribs for good measure. Now to resume my work and find out how this Mind Stone will serve my purposes.”

Setting: Unknown Planet: Forest

The fresh air of the wilderness that surrounded them made Lea smile as she opened her eyes. She had endured so much while in the cell that she had almost forgotten about how good the coolness of the air could feel against her face.

“Where are we?” Lea asked, suddenly realising that they were no longer inside the complex that they had been trapped inside of. “How did we get here? Were we followed? Aren’t they going to notice that we have escaped and send their goons after us?”

Luke laughed. “We are in a forest a few kilometres from where we were being held captive. We walked here. Well actually I walked and you got carried. I don’t think we were followed since I left quite a mess behind for them to clean up, and they will probably send out their *goons* as you called then first thing tomorrow morning.”

So why are we here waiting?” Lea asked in panic, not wanted for them to be recaptured after having escaped.

“Because we will need to go back and try to get a signal out to SFI for them to send in a ship to get us off this planet,” Luke calmly replied. “My plan is that we will get passed the goons and head back to the complex. There we’ll have to locate the communication system and get a signal out.”

“You make it sound like its going to be easy,” the SFI Agent said. “How do you suggest that we get past whatever goons they send out after us?”

“Simple,” Luke smiled. “We’ll just head in their direction and hide at the last moment. They won’t be expecting us to be heading *towards* them, so it should be easy enough to get behind them. At least that is what I hope, but in the meantime we should rest. Tomorrow will be an interesting day.”
