#416 - USS ANUBIS: Rikar: Day 4 - 14:32 ("Overview")

Stardate: 60298.1432
Setting: USS ANUBIS: Array Section, Deck A-4, IGC
The young woman watched with growing concern the tactical display that
she had requested to appear on the main view screen. A transparent sphere
which represented TOLAR IV hung in the middle of the large rectangle while
the icons representing each of the new ships that had arrived were
displayed in their currently relative position… needless to say that the screen seemed overly busy for a planet that had been of no interest to anyone not all that long ago.
The icon identifying the Cardassian Galor-Class Destroyer hovered on 1
side of the transparent sphere while the 2 Ferengi High-Marauder heavy
cruisers stood motionless on the other side, having elected to establish a
standard orbit away from the single Cardassian vessel. Although the Ferengi
possessed a combined firepower that far exceeded that of the older
Cardassian battleship, it had been easy to figure out that the 2
DaiMons had seen no profit in confronting the ship designed for combat… at least not for the time being. It seemed that the tactic employed by the Cardassian Gul had been successful, but for how long.
On 1 of the smaller screens, the redheaded woman kept track of the
Hirogen Venatic Class Tracker which continued to make its way to the planet…
the way they would react to seeing the Cardassian and the Ferengi there was
anyone’s guess, but the young woman suspected that it would not be a peaceful
meeting. As if all of this had not been sufficient, the sudden
appearance of an Orion High Warp Scout ship meant that the Orion Syndicate had
somehow gotten itself involved in this story, something that could only mean
more problems in the long run.
On another of the smaller screens, the young woman currently in charge
of the ICG kept track of the ILO’s progress and the reality of their
situation… they were no longer alone on the planet having been joined by 3 away teams beams down from the Cardassian ship. Since each team had been
comprised of 4 officers, this mean that Enaii and Nikita had been outnumbered 6 to 1, the young woman not willing to count the man who had brought them here as being either a friend or foe for the time being. Lukily for the ILO and her body guard the CAPITAL VENTURE and the Marines that were onboard were only
18 minutes away… unfortunately which meant that they would be arriving
*after* the Hirogens and Orion making the situation that much more complicated
in orbit.
They would need to come up with something to change this… but what?

Stardate: 10298.1433
Setting: USS ANUBIS: Bridge
Although the bridge personnel of the USS ANUBIS did not have access to
the sophisticated equipment that the ExO currently had at her disposal,
each and every member of the senior staff currently on duty knew what was
happening. Each station focussed on a particular aspect of the problem that they were dealing with, trying to come up with a solution that would not reveal their presence to any of the ships present or on their way.
“This Mind Stone must be something huge… the Cardassian should have
noticed the Hirogens by now and they have not made any move in that regards.”
The Sec/Tac officer announced, sounding a little puzzled about the lack of
interest shown by that ship and its crew. Taking into account the
reputation of these hunters, a pair of Hirogen hunters should be able
to match all 12 of the Cardassian soldiers who had been sent to the
planet.
“What we need is a way to give our Marines the chance to get here
before its too late… any suggestions?” The CO inquired, the only option that he had come up with at the moment having been to make the ANUBIS’ presence
known and divert everyone’s attention onto them, including those vessels
currently in orbit… an option that was a very unpleasant one… for obvious
reasons.
“We need to give the approaching ships something to focus on other than
the planet.” The CEO offered, pointing out the obvious.
“Maybe we could modify the main deflector to emit some sort of
radiating field that would draw everyone’s attention to it… but we would have to turn the ANUBIS around and that might give our position to the ships in
orbit. I mean all that we would need to do is to delay the 2 approaching ships for a minute or so to give the CAPITAL VENTURE the time it needs to get here first but letting the others know that we are here will not help us any.
Another option might be to use the warp nacelles to saturate the area between
the ships and the planet with ionized particles that would hinder sub-light
propulsion systems for a short period of time… long enough to give our
troops time to take the lead, but that may interfere with our own need
to escape should things get hairy with the Cardassians and Ferengi… so I
guess that the plan is not such a good one.” The CSciO offered in a single
breath making the rest of the bridge staff take a moment to assimilate all
that had been said.
“I think that our best bet is to turn each of the ships against each
other. The Cardassian have already contacted and warned the Ferengi to stay
away, but what if the Cardassians also warned the Hirogens and Orions, or the
Orions and Hirogens warned each other to stay away?” The Ops officer
proposed, not realy certain as to how this plan would be implemented.
“Could we do that? I mean fake a signal from either the Cardassian,
Hirogen or the Orions.” James keenly inquired, the idea having a great deal of
merits. If the ships were busy with each other, the CAPITAL VENTURE
would have more time to arrive and beam their own people down where they
would be able to do the most good.
“We do have the communication specifications of each of those races on
file… but how would we transmit the signals so that each ship would believe
that it did come from the other?” The half Human, half Romulan Chief of
Operations queried, looking back at the CO and the rest of the bridge
crew.
“I might have a way to pull that rabbit out of the hat.” David
announced as he looked down at his instruments, the wheels in his head visibly
working overtime to come up with a solution to this unique problem.
