Stardate: 60298.1433
Setting: USS ANUBIS, Bridge

Watching the action within the ANUBIS unfolding from the Ops station, the Romulan/Terran hybrid was amazed by the speed and depth of the CEO's efforts to resolve their communication's dilemma. Contacting the Hirogens and the Orions was easy, making them believe that the signal had originated from each other or the Cardassians would prove to be an entirely different matter, but one that Lt. Dawson had been making progress towards.

Helping the engineer as much as she could by freeing up needed resources for David, the COO gave her ACT classmate as much working latitude as she could, realizing that it would not be difficult for her to get in his way. Working as fast as the CSciO usually spoke, the CEO devised, tested and corrected ways of accomplishing their goals almost faster than the Romulan/Terran hybrid could keep track of them. Like watching an expert chef creating a masterpiece, the Ops officer gazed at her console with awe waiting for the final product to be announced.

Stardate: 10298.1433
Setting: TOLAR IV, Inside the Ruins

Following Xan, the ILO and her bodyguard entered the ancient ruins after having made their way through an opening that had been created in a wall of ice. Since the man that they were following had not seemed at all surprised by the unnatural opening and that he had headed directly for it, Enaii easily concluded that this had not been Xan’s first visit to this place.

Glancing back over her shoulder as they walked in, the ILO spotted a strange shimmering of the snow, similar to the one she had earlier seen while at the same time being very different. The first effect she had seen had been thought to be a cloaking device hiding a ship of some sort, but the flickering of the snow she had just seen seemed to be moving. Reacting in any way to what she had seen would alert whoever or whatever had been out there that she knew of them, so Enaii remained as calm and cold as the ice around her and continued following Xan. Surprise had never been a tool that could be easily used against the ILO, and that was the way she liked it.

Stardate: 10298.1433
Setting: TOLAR IV, Snow Plains

Shivering to the point of having problems holding their weapons steady, the Cardassians sent to the planet cursed this icy world with all of their might as they searched the featureless horizon for what they had been sent to find. All that they knew was that a powerful relic had been located on this frozen hell of a planet and that finding it would help bring the Cardassians back to their rightful place within the Alpha Quadrant. The Gul in command had been adamant about them leaving no stones unturned and that if they did not find the artefact they could stay on the planet and freeze to death.

Initial scans had shown that a set of ruins laid beneath the ice not far from their current location, and the presence of three pairs of footsteps heading in that direction indicated that someone had beaten them to it.

Looking at one another, the 12 soldiers smiled acknowledging the plan that had not been spoken out loud. Whoever was in front of them would be permitted to find the artefact and bring it out right into their waiting hands. Waiting would not have been a problem had it not been for the frigid temperature, so after a few minutes the Cardassians decided to move in to the ruins and continue their wait inside of the structure. At least there they would be shielded from the bone chilling winds.

Stardate: 10298.1434
Setting: TOLAR IV, Atop a Snowy Hill

Standing atop of the hill invisible to others thanks to their personal cloaking devices, the three Jem’Hadars that had been sent out of the hidden ship had followed with great interest the progress of the Humans and their Cardassian pursuers. The plan created by their Vorta leader had been simplistic in its concept; they would let whoever came here fight for the possession of the Mind Stone depleting their resources in the process and once the battle would be over the genetically created warriors would step in and that the relic back to their masters with the satisfaction that they had done the bidding of their gods.
