Setting: TOLAT IV, Atop a Snowy Hill

Unaware of the problems far overhead beyond the atmosphere of the planet, the three cloaked Jem'Hadars continued to stand guard over the entrance of the icy ruins. Three Humans and 12 Cardassian soldiers had been seen walking in and as of yet none had been seen coming out. Either none of them had not found what they had come here to get or the ruins had been too much for any of them to handle and they were already dead. The third option was that the two groups had met and disposed of each other. Whatever the cause had been, the Jem'Hadar were content with the outcome, that they would be victorious and return to their region of space having accomplished the will of the Founders. All that had been left to do was to wait for the Vorta Serul to give the order to move in and claim what was rightfully theirs.

Setting: Inside the Cloaked Ship

With the majority of their power being used to run the cloaking device, Serul could not even keep a visual watch on the three Jem'Hadars that had been sent out. Even if the Vorta had been able to he would have seen nothing more than snow and ice since the proud warriors of the Dominion had in their possession the only personal cloaking devices they had brought with them. Still it might have been nice to be able to see something more than the gloomy interior of the Romulan scout ship they had been using for this mission.

The low ambient light made it so that the Vorta could not see the details of the bridge, something that he was thankful for. There was something about the way Romulans build their ships that rubbed Serul the wrong way. Just sitting in a chair made by them had been bad enough, but the Founders had wanted him to be here in this ship and that was exactly what Serul would do.

Setting: Unknown Planet: Forest

Lea had followed Luke like she had been his shadow. The SFI Agent could not help but admire the way the man moved through the forest, not making a single sound and able to anticipate the movements of those who had been sent to search for them. Lea wondered how come they had not been using tricorders, but she quickly filed that omission on their part to good fortune for them. Hopefully their good luck would continue all the way to the communication centre back inside of the compound they had escaped from.

The sound of something large crashing down behind them made Lea jump and instinctively turn around to see what it was. Since the sun had set a while ago and what little light from the stars overhead had been blocked by the trees, the SFI agent saw nothing more than darkness. Panic settled in when Lea turned around and failed to find Luke where she had expected him to be. Silently cursing herself for having taking her eyes off him, the trembling woman held her hands to her chest in a feeble attempt to muffle the sound of her beating heart which had been all that she could hear. Fearing that luck had abandoned her, Lea moved into the darkness fearing that she would soon be back in the cell that she had been so happy to leave behind.

In the span of a blink of an eye, Lea felt something take hold of her ankle and drag her down into an opening in the ground. The speed at which this had happened had not given the SFI agent time to even let a scream out.

Setting: Unknown Planet: Underground passage

Lea felt a strong presence pressing against her back, an even stronger hand covering her mouth. Given the position of absolute submission she had found herself to be in, the SFI agent expected to feel the cold kiss of a blade slide across her throat. Instead Lea felt the restraining hold against her soften which allowed her to turn around.

"Luke!" she gasped, "what are you trying to do? Give me a heart attack!"

The man motioned for Lea to keep her voice down, the charm of his piercing eyes making the SFI agent forget all about what had just happened. "I think we got lucky, I stumbled on the opening of this underground passage, and by the looks of these conduits, it should lead directly to some sort of control centre."

Lea eyes bounced from the conduits in question to the man who had discovered them. Luck and Luke it seemed were more than good friends, something that the SFI agent grew increasingly concerned about in the back of her thoughts.

"Let's go then," Lea said looking up at the opening in the ceiling through which Luke had pulled her through. Getting off this cursed planet had been all that the SFI agent wanted making her disregard her own instincts and feelings. Then again being near Luke Onison had been more than enough to trigger an entire set of feelings in Lea, feelings that had nothing to do with common sense, instincts or logic.

Setting: Unknown Planet: Underground Control Room

Not a single security device or guard had stood in their way, letting Luke and Lea reach the control centre without any incident. The only thing they did find was a small cylindrical robot like device with a dome shaped head that stood in the middle of the room, apparently acting as its operator. Aside from an endless string of beeps and chirps, the small mechanical thing seemed unaware or uninterested by the unexpected arrival of the two escapees.

"Strange little box, wonder what it's doing?" Lea said looking at the blue and white coloured robot as if the thing had originated from another galaxy.

"Might just be here to make sure the systems function properly," Luke replied as he sat down at one of the stations. "I can imagine that there would not be that many people willing to work down here."

"Good point," the SFI Agent said in agreement, "which brings us to our next burning question: where and what is *here*?"

"According to these consoles, I would guess a secondary communication platform," Luke replied not at all sounding surprised or happy about their discovery. Not wanting to reveal her growing concerns, Lea remained silent dividing her attention between Luke's work and the overly noisy tin can of a robot behind them.
