Stardate: 60298.1450
Setting: USS ANUBIS, Bridge

The Chief Science Officer had planned to run a complete sensor sweep of the area of space where the Breen ship had been prior to the explosion in order to confirm the cause of the shockwave that had pushed the Federation ship with such ease. The theory that had formed inside of the mind of the Shillian woman had been that the frequency of the energy used to infuse the ablative armour of the ANUBIS had been slightly out of phase with that of the field that had surrounded the camouflaged alien ship. That by itself should not have caused what had happened but the scientist also believed that the proximity of the two ships had caused the feedback that they had wanted to create to be much stronger than initially expected.

All of the elements of this scientific research had been present in the head of the Shillian woman but there had been a few problems that had made it impossible for the Chief Science Officer to carry out the work that she had wanted to. The first and most important having been that the scientist had no longer been sitting at her station but had instead found her way onto the floor between the station of the Executive Officer and the raised platform at the back of the bridge where the Engineering and Science stations had been located.

As she clumsily opened her eyes, the Shillian woman saw the faces of her Commanding Officer and Chief of Security looking at her. It took the scientist a few seconds to understand why the two men had been looking at her the way that they had, and also why the lights usually seen on the ceiling of the bridge could be clearly identified behind the heads of the two officers. As the Chief Science officer tried to move, she experienced a sharp pain at the base of her skull that confirmed her suspicious about her having been thrown over her workstation and unto the floor in front of it.

"Take it easy Maya," the Captain said while supporting the head of the Shillian woman with his hand, "you took a nasty fall and it would be wiser for you to stay still until someone from the Medical staff shows up." Although he had not seen what had happened, the Commanding Officer had heard the unpleasant thud echo throughout the bridge when the head of the Chief Science Officer had collided with the deck plates of the main floor, a sound that by itself had been more than enough to warrant to call for a medical team to the bridge.

Lost in a daze of unspoken questions, many of which had nothing to do with her current predicament or made little sense at all, the Shillian scientist cast her gaze in as many directions as she could. After several seconds of processing the visual information she had accumulated, the Chief Science Officer turned her questions to Lieutenant Seth. "What happened? The last thing I remember was the sensors picking up a sudden increase in the power output of the Breen ship, I was just about to verify if that spike had been caused by an echo of the feedback into the energy field or if had originated somewhere else. By that I mean somewhere else on board the Breen ship of course since there was really no other place that it could have come from, but I wanted to see if the energy feedback had been somehow stopped and reflected back to us or if it had created an unbalance in the main power core of the Breen ship."

"Maybe we should contact sickbay and cancel the call for them to come to the bridge," the Chief of Security said with a sigh, looking at his Commanding Officer with an expression of bewilderment.

"Why would we want to do that?" The Captain asked, the way that the eyes of the Shillian had appeared leaving no doubts in the mind of the Commanding Officer of the USS ANUBIS that the scientist had required some level of medical assistance.

"Because no one suffering from a concussion would speak that fast, or that clearly for that matter, about the effect of an energy feedback on the power core of a Breen ship," Rawyvin replied, stating the facts with an detached coldness that would have made the Intelligence Liaison Officer proud.

Not wanting to display his amusement to the injured Chief Science Officer, the Captain shifted his gaze upward towards the station of the Chief Engineering Officer who had been busy with matters of an entirely different genre. "Lieutenant Dawson, how are we doing?"

"That explosion was pretty nasty," the head of the Engineering department of the USS ANUBIS replied without raising his eyes from his console, "but luckily the ablative amour took the greater majority of the impact. The force of the blast was enough to knock us several kilometres from where we were but all things considered I will have to admit that we did better than I would have expected."

"Be careful chief," the Chief of Operations said from the other end of the bridge, "hearing you speak like that someone might get the erroneous impression that you actually *like* this ship."

David snorted his discontentment at the statement made by Lieutenant Serenna and decided to continue with his work instead of dignifying the words of the hybrid with any sort of direct reply. "Life support system has been restored to all sections with the exception of Deck 9, Section 4 through 7 which included the Lateral Sensor Control room. Not sure why but I have already dispatched a team to check it out."

"Well done Mister Dawson," the Captain said, returning to a standing posture now that he was more secured in the knowledge that his Chief Science Officer had not suffered from any serious or permanent damage from her unscheduled flight over her workstation. "Lieutenant Serenna, have that section of the ship evacuated for the time being."

The Chief of Operations quickly glanced back at her Commanding Officer to confirm that she had received the order and to by the same token see how the Shillian scientist had been. From her position at the front of the bridge and because the station of the First Officer had been directly in her line of sight, the half Human, half Romulan woman had not been able to see anything constructive, leaving her to hope that she had been all right despite the fall that she had taken.

As soon as the team from the medical department arrived on the bridge, Lieutenant Seth returned to his station leaving the Shillian scientist in the capable care of the Doctor and nurse who had responded to their call for medical assistance, the scientist not having been beamed to Sickbay because of the inoperative status of the internal sensors which had rendered sight-to-sight transport impossible.
