Stardate: 60298.1503
Setting: TOLAR IV, Atop a Snow Hill -> Inside of the Ruins

Thanks to the gifts bestowed upon them by the Founders, the Jem'Hadar soldiers stood tall against the cold and wind of the storm. Their genetically engineered strength and endurance made it so that the icy sting of the wind did not affect them. Their undying devotion to their Gods and those who spoke for them insured that they would not question the orders they had been given. Theirs was not to ask but only to do as they were told. That had always been the ways of things and it suited them just fine.

They had been there for quite a while and although their visibility had been reduced to nil, the Jem'Hadar soldiers had not moved from their position. Their personal cloaking devices had been deactivated so that they could keep each other in sight, but the soldiers of the mighty Dominion had not abandoned their position. As the storm raged on though, the leader of the threesome questioned if they could continue on as they had. Unable to see the entrance to the ruins meant that they would not know if someone came out.

Confident that they would be able to take care of the Cardassians the Jem'Hadars ventured into the ruins unaware that another group had entered the sheltering ruins. The presence of 2nd Lt. Pravat and the rest of the Federation Marines inside the ruins would be a momentary surprise to the soldiers of the Dominion who had expected to find Cardassians instead. The shock of seeing the broken bodies of the Cardassian soldiers littering the icy ground could not be measured in size or length of time, the Jem'Hadars knowing better than to let the unexpected be their downfall.

Quickly taking a defensive posture, the two Jem'Hadars who had been in the lead let the third investigate the bodies of the fallen soldiers. Through observing the shape, size and number of wounds the man and the two women who had been seen walking in were eliminated as the cause of the massacre. Even if they had taken possession of weapons capable of such damage, the soldiers of the Dominion highly doubted that they possessed the skills and training required. The wounds on the Cardassians showed a level of skill that almost matched their own making it unlikely that three civilians could have been responsible for this. Another group had to be responsible for what they had found and the clues to finding out who were discovered imprinted in the snow.

Shielded from the wind, the tracks left in the snow that had found its way into the ruins completed the puzzle. The tracks were those of Federation Marines, the threads of their footwear easily recognised by those who knew what to look for. Somehow the warriors of the Federation had found their way inside of the ruins unseen by the Jem'Hadars but they would not gain any advantage from this. Their presence in the abandoned structure had been discovered and the element of surprise still belonged to the soldiers of the Dominion.

As if sharing the same thoughts, the three Jem'Hadars vanished behind a shimmering effect all at the same time. They would make good use of this advantage and use it to its fullest by remaining invisible. The three warriors would have to move slowly into the ruins so as to not make any noise that might reveal their presence. Lucky for them the Founders had been more than generous in giving the Jem'Hadars patience and a keen sense of observation. They would follow the tracks left behind and wait for the right moment to strike. Nothing would be gained by attacking early. Waiting for the right moment would insure that they would be able to find the artefact they had come here to get with little effort, and with it in their possession they would be able to return to Serul Victorious. Once back on the stolen Romulan ship with the artefact in their hands the soldiers of the Dominion would receive the only reward they sought, a new vial of *white*. With it they would receive continued life that would be entirely dedicated to the fulfilment of the Founder's wishes.

Unseen and unheard the Jem'Hadar moved into the ruins listening for the sounds that would instruct them as to which of the many passages to take. Not having been given the same keen hearing as the Vorta, the soldiers of the Dominion would have to rely more on visual clues, but the trail of dead Cardassian had already given them more than enough to go on. Soon they would find the Federation Marines and claim what their masters had demanded.
