Setting: USS ANUBIS, Bridge

**To help the Orions, or not to help the Orions. That was the question** James thought to himself borrowing a famous line from one of EARTH’s most legendary writers and historical figures.

In the end, the decision was made for James even though he didn't like the result.

"Captain, I am detecting a large energy build-up in the Orion ship," Maya reported. "Either their core has started to overload from their battle damage or they have initiated a self-destruct sequence."

"Threat assessment," James ordered.

"Debris and possible shock wave damage from the explosion, but our armour and shields should be more than adequate," Serena reported from Ops.

"Best speed to the planet, Major," James ordered the FCO. "Put as much distance between us and the Orion's"

"Aye, Captain," the Oriental FCO answered.

"Put the Orion ship on screen," the CO ordered.

Lt. Seth made the change from his tactical station. "On screen, Captain."

James leaned forward in his command chair and stared at the now visible ship that was getting smaller by the second as the ANUBIS moved away from the pending explosion. A few seconds later the ship exploded in a shower of sparks and rapidly moving ship parts.

The ANUBIS acknowledged the explosion by absorbing the necessary energy through its shields.

=/\= Did we just get hit again? =/\= an annoyed CEO asked through the ship's comm-system having left the bridge to oversee a rather touchy repair to the one of the ship's primary systems.

"Yes, David," James answered. "The Orion ship just exploded. Any damage?"

=/\= Nothing major, Captain, =/\= the CEO answered. =/\= However, avoiding more of the same would be a good thing. =/\=

"Can't control everything," James answered as he rubbed his temples. The stress was starting to give the CO a headache. The lack of control was what was maddening.

=/\= She is still in semi-working order, Captain. Dawson out. =/\= The tone in the CEO's voice hinted that he had not been happy about the latest event but that he also had more than enough to keep him from making a comment that he might later learn to regret.

"So far so good. Let's go get our people off of that planet," James mumbled to himself, glad that the Orion ship had been removed as a potential threat but not looking forward to having to deal with the 1 hurdle that still stood between them and TOLAR IV… the Hirogens.
