#446 - USS ANUBIS: Dawson: Day 4 - 15:15 ("Operational Hazards Are Part Of The Job")

"Operational Hazards Are Part Of The Job"
(Previous Post: 'Operational Hazards')

Stardate: 60298.1515
Setting: USS ANUBIS, Deck 10, Main Deflector Control

David was wrapping up his repairs to the main deflector when he was called.

=/\=T'Reni to Lieutenant Dawson=/\=

David tapped his badge. "Yes?"

=/\=Just wanted to inform you that power has been restored to the aft section of the ship. That covers junctions beta through epislon and sections 22 through 45.=/\=

David sighed. "Thanks T'Reni. Has Ken reported in yet?"

=/\=Several hours ago. I have placed him and his team on rest...to much protest. But I informed him that if he wasn't satisfied to take the matter up with you.=/\=

"I take it he decided the former?" David asked with a grin.

=/\=Affirmative.=/\= the aCEO replied.

"Good. You yourself go get some rest and have gamma shift come on before you leave. And I can see you from here T'Reni..no I am not resting until this bucket is completely repaired. Dawson out." he said closing the channel before he wa shit with a speech on logic...which he really didn't want to hear. After finishing up, he gathered his tools and headed for M.E.

Setting: Main Engineering

As the CEO entered his domain, T'Reni was waiting on him. As he approached, she hande dhim a padd.

"My reports on completed jobs and tasks. Lieutenant Serrena sends her regards to you for getting the long range sensors back online."

"Oh..how sweet" David said reading over the padd as a alert chime went off on the engineering deck. For one, it alerted him to any time the ANUBIS went to a higher alert status than standard. 2 chimes for yellow alert, 3 times if the weapons systems went active and the standard red alert klaxon. This time it was the 3 chimes....then straight to red alert.

"DAMMIT! Not again?!" David growled as he tapped his badge.

"You know, fixing everything would be a *hell* of a lot easier if you stopped trying to get us killed....or engaging in a fire fight. Should I head back to the bridge?" the CEO asked and instantly realized that he should've thought out his statement before he said it.

=/\=Sorry for making your life more complicated than it needs to be, and as for returning to the bridge my suggestion is for you to continue with whatever you were doing. If we are lucky there won't be anything else for you to fix.=/\= came the reply of the Commanding Officer.

David smirked. "If we are lucky? I think we are a long way from luck at this point but I'll keep this bucket working for as long as I can."

=/\=Couldn't have asked for a better CEO Mr. Dawson.=/\= James replied.

"Just *you* remember that come time for promotions Captain. Dawson out." as he looked to the gamma shift.

"You know the drill people. Let's hit it hard and fast. Go." and the engineers, technicians, and specialists went to work as David headed for his office...and something for his throbbing head.
