#454 - USS ANUBIS: Rikar: Day 4 - 15:35 ("Preparing")
==========
" Preparing "
(Previous Post was Michael's " Going On The Offensive ")
==========
Stardate: 60298.1535
Setting: USS ANUBIS: Array Section, Deck A-4, IGC
The young woman joined the rest of the bridge's staff in a short
silence as all eyes fell on their CO for a brief moment before quickly returning to their consoles and the work that they would have to do in the short period of time that they had been given. As Chief of Security and Tactical Officer of the USS ANUBIS it had been Lt. JG Seth's task to polish the final details of their assault on the Hirogen ship currently in orbit before moving on to the surface of TOLAR IV and the hidden base of operations of the Jem'Hadars. Although Rawyvin did not require any assistance in this matter, the timeframe given by Cpt. Simmons had made the help offered by the Ops Officer, Lt. Serenna, more than welcomed.
The CSciO had been given a task all to herself that in a way had
nothing to do with the assault the ANUBIS would soon be doing… but from another angle the final goal strived for by the Shillian could prove to make all of the difference. Finding the exact location of the Cloaked Romulan ship
that was suspected to be on the surface would permit the second part of the
strike to be more precise… and more important allow for the third part to proceed with more effectiveness. Disabling the Hirogen Venatic-Class Long-Range Tracker would be hard enough as it was, but to immediately afterwards
bombarding a sizable region of the surface of the planet to incapacitate an unseen ship before sending in a boarding party had presented the crew with some very dangerous problems. As powerful as the weapons of the ANUBIS were, if the attack on the second target proved to be off, the boarding party would
risk running into some very unhappy Jem'Hadars… if they found them at all.
Discovering the exact location of the cloaked ship despite the natural
interference created by the properties and minerals found in the snow
and ice was of the utmost importance… and Maya knew this.
With the Sec/Tac, Ops officer and CSciO busy with their respective
parts of this little plan, the young woman and her life mate were each left with the task of figuring out who they would take along on their boarding teams and how they would proceed.
While still keeping a vigilant watch over the bridge and its officers
from her station behind the CO's chairs, the redheaded woman discussed in a
whispered voice the details of their part of the plan with the ANUBIS'
ILO. Although Rikar outranked Enaii, the young woman knew better than to
impose anything on the Intel Operative, instead being more than happy to bend
to the will of the woman whose hologram was on the bridge.
=/\= You… Mr. Dawson… 4 security officers of my choosing… and the
second of the Marine team will take the Jem'Hadar base of operation. =/\= Enaii announced without a hint of emotion lacing her words, as if reciting an
uninteresting list of items that she had memorized weeks ago.
The young woman stared at the holographic image of her mate… countless
questions and their most likely 1 to 2 word replies passing through her
head. Of the 2 assignments the boarding of the Hirogen ship had been
by far the most dangerous although the Jem'Hadars were not an adversary to be
underestimated, so it made sense for Enaii and Pravat to have the
*honour* of tackle this, but Sabrina had been curious as to why the ILO had so
easily volunteered the CEO's presence to the ExO's team. The redheaded woman
knew her wife to be jealous of the way David and her acted towards one
another at times, so it did come as a slight surprise that the Intel Operative had gone beyond having made the suggestion and had spoken as if this had been a done deal.
Had there been more time, the young woman might have gathered the
courage to ask her life mate as to the reason for this decision… but since time was short, Sabrina simply hoped that she would be given the chance to make the query sometime after they would all be back at NEW ALEXANDRIA safe and sound once the mission had been completed.
"Which engineer will you be taking?" The young woman inquired… that
question being the only one she could manage that did not involve David in some way, although it did have to do with the man's department.
=/\= T'Reni. =/\= The ILO replied with a single dry word. It had
always been an almost impossible mission to get Enaii to talk during her off
hour time, but while on duty and especially when in the middle of some sort
of crisis, the blond haired woman spoke as if each word said risked the
destruction of not only the entire ship, but of the entire cosmos.
"I'm glad that you will be taking Pravat with you… as much as I know
you to be able to take care of yourself, knowing that he will be there with
you makes me feel better." The young woman offered before quickly
returning her gaze to her instruments… wishing that she had not spoken what she had. Openly displaying concern was something that Enaii appreciated…
especially when it was directed to her… and even more when this was done right on the bridge.
"We are almost ready here." Rawyvin announced as he glanced to the back
of the bridge to see if the CSciO had made any progress on her part of the
plan. Another silence washed over the bridge as all available eyes
fell onto the Shillian who had been so busy with her research that she had
not realised that the main focus of the moment had been on her.
