"We have An Ocean, but Where's The Beach?"

Stardate: 60298.1652
Setting: Oceanic World, outside the downed shuttle

It had been almost an hour since they had landed on this watery world. If you could call what they had done a landing. The shuttle had managed to remain afloat on the emerald sea rocked gently by the motion of the waves. What Lea had found interesting was that the storm they had passed through had remained several kilometres overhead. Something about the planet's atmosphere made it so that the storm did not affect the shuttle or the ocean they were on. This created a surreal picture that Lea could not believe even though she was in the middle of it.

"You still out there?" Luke asked from within the shuttle, still working on trying to get a distress signal out. "You haven't made a noise in forever, just wanted to make sure that you didn't fall overboard."

Lea smiled, happy that the redness of her cheeks could not be seen by Luke. The time they had spent in the cell had been like a nightmare compared to the dream that they were now in. The open fresh ocean air had been a welcome change from the stale and mouldy smell that they had almost grown accustomed to. The unreal colour of the water had only helped to make the scene that much more inviting.

"I'm still here," the SFI Agent replied. "You are not getting rid of me that easily. I was just studying the storm overhead. The clouds seem to be moving at a hundred KPH yet we can only feel a gentle breeze here. It is like there is a barrier standing between us and the raging tempest overhead."

"A barrier would explain some of the damage that the shuttle sustained," Luke said before letting out a yelp that froze Lea's blood in her veins. In the blink of an eye the SFI agent had dove back through the ceiling hatch and return inside the shuttle.

Lea found Luke cradling his right hand against his chest, the smell of burnt flesh filling the air.

"What happened?" Lea asked as Luke pulled the injury out of the Assistant CMO's reach.

"Nothing," Luke replied in a snap. "I just wasn't paying as much attention as I should have when trying to work on the power lines."
"Let me see that," Lea said, reaching again for the injured hand. "I am trained as a Medical Officer you know. I promise not to amputate anything major."

Looking into Lea's eyes Luke relinquished the injured hand without any further resistance. Due to the absence of a Med-Kit Lea had been forced to rely on basic care giving techniques but they were enough given the extent of the burn. "You're lucky," Lea said as she ripped her shirt to create a bandage. "The burn could have been much worse," the Assistant CMO added as she poured water on the makeshift bandage and gently wrapped it around the injured hand. "The least you can do is to tell me what you were thinking of when this happened. You don't strike me as the kind of person that gets easily distracted."

Luke tried to think of something else to say. Usually Onison was the one steering the conversation, but this time he found himself unable to speak.

"Was it that bad?" Lea asked, inspecting her handy work with a certain amount of pride.

"It wasn't bad at all. I would go as far to say that it was rather pleasant."

Lea's curiosity having been peeked, she asked, "pleasant? How so?" Were you daydreaming of some green skinned Orion slave girl attending to your every wish and desire?"

Luke raised the bandaged hand to get a better view of Lea's work. "I was not daydreaming about something or someone. I was just thinking about you."

Lea felt her heart skip a beat. She had been ready to slap Luke for what he had said while at the same time ready to hug him for being so sweet. Unwilling to do either, Lea turned around and went back up the ladder leading to the hatch and out of the shuttle. With her there and him here Lea would be able to think and Luke would be able to continue his work on the distress signal, work that the SFI Agent had not been in any way in a rush to see completed.
