#477 - USS ANUBIS: Serenna: Day 4 - 1605 ("Operational Inquiry")

"Operational Inquiry"
Previous Post: "Darkness Falls"

Stardate: 60298.1605
Setting: USS ANUBIS, Bridge
Stepping onto the bridge following the completion of
her mission on board the Hirogen ship, the ILO felt
all eyes fall onto her. The coincidental destruction
of the ship with the return of Enaii and her team to
the ANUBIS had raised several questions that had been
compounded by the lack of information the
Romulan/Terran hybrid had been able to give to her
superior. According to the sensor data moments prior
to the explosion, there had been no reason for this to
happen leaving the captain to wonder as to what had
happened on board the Venatic-Class Hirogen Long-Range
Tracker.
Watching with a mixture of interest and curiosity the
ILO make her way to the CO's chair, no one dared to
speak the questions that were plaguing them, partially
because they did not want to interrupt Enaii's report
but mostly because no one wanted to be on the
receiving end of whatever the ILO might unleash as her
reply if she deemed it necessary to acknowledge any
question sent her way. Standing next to the CO, the
ILO showed the data transfer chip that she had used to
download all of the information from the Hirogen's
computer as she made her report. "Tactical, sensor
information and logs were downloaded. All team
members have returned safely with only some suffering
from minor injuries."
Looking past the ILO and CO to the back of the
bridge, the Romulan/Terran hybrid could not help but
observe the contrast between the Maya and Enaii. Both
were experts in their respective domains and yet each
one was as different as could be from the other, and
that the two of them could serve on the same ship
without any major problems seemed to be nothing short
of a miracle. Thinking about some of the other
members of the crew, mainly her fellow ACT Classmate
who currently served on the ANUBIS as the CEO, the COO
had to admit that they too were worlds apart and still
managed to work on the same team. The differences
that they all shared made the ship and the crew
better, and maybe that had been the reason why fate
had brought them all here together.
Focussing back on the CO and ILO, the Romulan/Terran
hybrid waited for the Captain to ask the one question
that haunted the greater majority of those on the
bridge including the COO and luckily for them all, the
CO did not waste any time to ask the question. "What
happened back there?"
Not looking in anyway surprised by the question, the
ILO gave an explanation that although sounded sincere
and truthful also came across as having been thought
of before hand and maybe even rehearsed. "Most have
triggered some sort of failsafe device or computer
program when I downloaded the information."
Reading between the lines of the explanation that he
had been given, the CO understood that whatever had
happened had been caused by the ILO, not that she had
been ready or willing to come out and say it out
straight. Something had led her to act in the way
that she had and her saying that it was something that
*she* had triggered while on the ship meant that she
accepted full responsibility for the destruction of
the ship should the CO decide to pursue the issue.
Knowing better than to question Enaii further on this
matter, especially in the open space of the bridge,
Capt. Simmons decided to let it go for now. "At least
we still have the Romulan frigate in our possession as
well as one less than happy Vorta prisoner."
Keeping her reaction to the news of the capture to
herself, the ILO turned to look at the Romulan/Terran
hybrid who had been listening in on the conversation
from the Ops. The lack of any expression on Enaii's
face made it impossible for the COO to know what the
woman's intentions had been before she actually spoke,
"Status?"
Responding to the direct question, the COO turned
back to her console and gave the ILO a complete report
on the current status of their operation, keeping the
report short and to the point, something that the
Romulan/Terran hybrid knew would be appreciated.
"Cmdr. Rikar is still pursuing the ship that left
TOLAR IV. Lt. Dawson is inspecting the engineering
section of the Romulan Frigate while 2nd Lt. Pravat is
insuring that the ship is secured. Lt. Seth keeping a
watch on our newest guest, likely trying to get some
information out of him."
Appearing satisfied with what had been said, the ILO
turned once again to the CO. "With your permission I
will return to the IGC and process the data
collected."
Nodding his approval, Capt. Simmons dismissed the ILO
to her task before concentrating on the last loose end
he was aware of, the FOOL's GOLD and the VIPER
perusing it. "Helm, plot an intercept course with the
ship that Cmdr. Rikar is following, maybe she will
welcome some assistance from our part."
