Setting: USS ANUBIS - IGC
She and two other acceptably qualified operatives within her team worked quickly to establish and maintain a data link with the Romulan ship. Junior Lieutenant Hallina Xahitio - Marris, an Imorrian, had a hardlink data port directly installed into her brainstem allowing her almost instantaneous access and reflexive control of her actions within the computer core. Enaii and the other operative, Lieutenant Kathryn Vasquez, having been born without the necessary hardware installed, were left to use more conventional methods.
The three struggled wordlessly to perform their individual jobs, Hallina had given them fast access to the Romulan vessel from their spot within the bowels of the IGC and now worked to counteract any computer access the Romulan Agents still on board performed in their effort to safeguard their data. Kathryn worked at nullifying the Self-Destruct sequence protections, allowing easier access and safer work for the engineering team. Enaii sifted through mounds of quickly disappearing recorded data, being deleted irreversibly and unstoppably each second by a protective program already initialised before they had begun their operation. As well as supervising the work of her Operatives, backing them up and determining which data needed to be saved immediately, Enaii remained in contact with both the Engineering team and the Bridge in order to stay completely on top of the situation.
The room the three of them stood in was completely white and cut off from any distraction. Even the cord going from Junior Lieutenant Xahitio - Marris' upper neck and travelling into an unseen port on the wall was unremarkable in colour, leaving anyone within to concentrate completely on their task at hand. The two non-cyborg officers wore special gloves of extremely malleable fabric that enabled them to control with ease the holographic representation of the computer cores and manipulate what was there with more accuracy and speed than conventional methods.
Holding her hands out in front of her, Enaii grabbed spherical parcels of information, some larger than others, but on each a visual representation of what could be found within played over the surface. Quickly analysing each data sphere, she either pushed them back into the core, closer to the rapidly spreading viral deletion program, sacrificing it to gain a few precious nanoseconds with the rest of the data before it too would be lost, or she recognised the data as being potentially important and rapidly dropped it onto a small box on her left, the representation of their own computer memory bank.
The data was not transferring fast enough from one computer to the next, and each precious second that slipped by meant thousands of pieces of irreplaceable and priceless data for the Federation was being lost. Watching also the tension on the Bridge through her eye piece, Enaii could not help but wish for a few extra precious seconds. As much as she hated to admit it, the loss of data would pale in comparison to the loss of lives should the ship be allowed to self-destruct. She worked now, as she had been trained to do, the loss of data more unacceptable in the eyes of SFI than that of a replaceable ship and crew, urgently transferring information into their own computer core where it was quickly transmitted into an intelligence buoy she had sent out mere minutes before.
Still, she did not intend to die, and she did not intend to allow this crew to be sacrificed. She watched carefully each emerging situation, manipulated it as much as she could with the help of her Intel crew, and when it came down to it, Mister Dawson was on the job, and as much as she would never admit it to anyone, she had faith in his ability to engineer their way out of this mess… with a little help from the IGC.
