Setting: NEW ALEXANDRIA, Section C, Level 4, Food Court

From her 5'7" Lea looked up at the engineer towering almost one foot over her. From his height David should have appeared intimidating, but instead he came across as unsettled. Something had been on his mind, and having been 'run over' by the Assistant CMO had not been it.

"Just came to see if there was anything either one of you needed to be fixed on the ANUBIS," David said looking over Lea's head at Serenna and Maya.

"We already gave our request for repairs in to you after we docked," Serenna said, a little curious about why David had seen so eager to get more work.

"The science department didn't have anything major to report, although the sensors on the starboard side could use some tweaking. I didn't report it because it was not worth mentioning but if you are looking for something extra to do, it would be nice to have them back to 100 percent," Maya added. Although she did not know this, the scientist shared in the curiosity of the Ops officer. It was nice to see David so eager to work, but considering that he usually bitched about all of the repairs he needed to do on the ANUBIS, the request had come across as being very strange.

"Already have all of those on my to-do list including the full weapons' realignment requested by Rawyvin," the CEO said looking disappointed. His efforts to stay busy and avoid the meeting with Commanders Foley and Vasquez had proven harder than it seemed. When he didn't want it, the ANUBIS had been falling to pieces all around him, but now that he wanted to find as much work as possible David could not find enough to keep him and his staff occupied.

"You went through the requests of *all* the departments?" Serenna asked, more curious than ever to know why David had become such a glutton for punishment.

"All but one," David replied. "Dr. Nguma has been unavailable, but from what I heard there was nothing there for me or my staff."

"That is not entirely true," Lea said, pulling the Engineer's eye down to her position. "True there is nothing major, but I can think of several small adjustments that could be done. It would be my pleasure to show them all to you if you would like."

David jumped on the opportunity without hesitation, stepping out of the way and inviting the Assistant CMO to lead the way.

After Lea and David left the food court, Serenna turned to look at Maya. "I'm not sure what scares me the most in all of this."

Surprised that something had 'scared' the Ops officer, Maya took a few moments to gather her thoughts and ask for the details of this. "What did you find scary? David looking for more work to do might have been strange, but I don't think it was scary."

"David looking for work is perfectly normal," Serenna said. "What I am not sure about is the way this story came to be and ended. Actions speak louder than words, and you quickly learn to read people through their body language. There was something about the way David acted that was not usual. The way Ens. Summers reacted also brought up some flags. That is what I am not certain about: should I be scared of what is troubling David or what is going on in Lea's head."

Stardate: 60299.0956
Setting: USS ANUBIS, Sickbay

Lea led David into Sickbay and quickly began listing all of the things the CEO could add to his list. "The biochemical sensor on Biobed 3 is not taking accurate readings. So we have to use a medical tricorder to confirm what the panel says. The quarantine field around Biobed 2 is only able to be activated to a level 4. That again is not a major crisis but if we ever come across a highly contagious pathogen we are going to be in deep trouble. The bio-molecular scanner only works part of the time, which isn't all that bad since we don't use it all that often. Of course you have to figure that the moment we will need it, that will be the time that it decides to not work."

The CEO stood in the middle of the room, watching the Assistant CMO going around and pointing to the malfunctioning equipment. David was mildly impressed by the knowledge Lea seemed to have of the equipment in the room, but he was more so impressed by her knowledge of their problems.

"I am truly sorry that Dr. Nguma did not submit these malfunctions to you earlier," Lea said after having gone around Sickbay. "had I known I would have made a list and submitted it in on his behalf."

David stared at the Assistant CMO from his height, finding it interesting that Lea showed more willingness to do what needed to be done than the ANUBIS' CMO. It was clear to see that Lea possessed the familiarity required with the department, and for a moment the CEO actually thought that it would be nice to have Lea assigned to the ship as its new CMO. Of course her attack on Sabrina would likely make this extremely difficult if not impossible.
