Setting: NEW ALEXANDRIA, Section C-2, Level 1, Corridor outside the
Infirmary
On the good side David had been out of immediate danger. On the bad side, the night Lea had spent lunged over the edge of the bed had left her aching. The Assistant CMO let out a grown as she stretched her arms to their fullest. Had she been made of some fragile material, Lea would have been nothing more than a pile of dust on the floor.
Lea's grown were soon replaced by moans of pleasure as two strong hands landed on her shoulders and began massaging them. At first she had accepted the feeling but after a few seconds of this Lea wondered about the ownership of those hands. As Lea turned to see who had been so kind, the Assistant CMO was pleasantly surprised to see Luke looking back at her.
"You looked like you needed that," Onison said as only a man possessing his charms could. He had played this game too many times not to know what to do, and how to do it. "From what I gathered you spent the night in there and by the looks of things it was a rough night."
Lea nodded weakly, debating between offering her shoulders back to Luke and asking him about the reason why he had been here. Curiosity won over pleasure, a weakness that most members of the female gender suffered from.
"Why are you here?" Lea asked, thinking at that very moment that the answer had been too obvious. If Lea had not thought about it, it meant that the Assistant CMO had been more tired than she had realised.
"I'm here to check up on the condition of a fellow crew member," Luke said, adding a heart melting smile for good measure.
"David is fine," Lea said before she was stopped by Luke's finger which had been placed against her lips.
"I didn't mean him," Onison said, his eyes reaching all the way into Lea's soul. There were no doubts about it; Luke was a master at playing this game. So much so that he had been able to deceive even himself into believing this romantic attraction to Lea. "You spent two full shifts in there and by the looks of things you didn't rest during that time. Who doctors the Doctors?"
Lea smiled at the thought that someone had been thinking of her during all this time, but the smile gradually faded. The more the Assistant CMO thought about what Luke had said, the more Lea wondered how he had known about her having been there all that time. "How did you know I spent the night by David's side? Have you been spying on me?" Lea asked sounding hurt.
"The logs of who comes and goes from the Infirmary are available to all base personnel," Luke replied, his charming smile never fading. "In this case though I didn't even have to do that, I ran into the CMO earlier and he told me," Onison added, his running into Doctor Wallin not having been a coincidence.
"I'm sorry," Lea said feeling guilty for having falsely accused Luke of keeping track of her movements. "You are right, I didn't get to rest all that much and its got me a little on edge."
"No harm done," Luke said never letting Lea believe that he had been offended by her reaction. "How about breakfast? I'm sure you could use something to keep you going."
Lea thought for a moment and agreed to go with Luke. David was in good hands with the base's medical staff, and it was not like the CEO was going anywhere anytime soon. Plus what good would the Assistant CMO be to David if she passed out from exhaustion? Yes, going for breakfast had been a tremendous idea, that Lea was going with Luke had only been fortunate. With him by her side at least Lea knew that she would make it there and back safely.
With the reasoning of her accepting done and over with, Lea followed Luke as they went down the corridor. The Assistant CMO figured that she would have time to relax a little and replenish her strength before returning to David's side. Everything seemed perfect except for one detail that Lea had completely forgotten about. The ANUBIS' Ops officer: Serenna.
