Stardate: 60301.1546
Setting: NEW ALEXANDRIA, Section C-2, Level 1, Infirmary

The Marine stepped aside and looked at the CMO in confusion. The Chief Medical Officer raised her eyebrows and turned to the other woman who dutifully shrugged. Satisfied that no-one else was more up-to-date than her, Ensign Summers turned back to the woman who had introduced herself as the new Head Counselor of the ANUBIS.

"Well," she said carefully, "This is the first we've heard of it."

The marine was immediately on his guard again, "Who told you to come here?"

Susan looked at the three people standing in front of her (who all looked rather ominous at that moment). She was shocked by the fact that no-one had been informed of her imminent arrival. "I..." she started, then cleared Her throat, "An Andorian woman I believe to be the station's Chief of Base Internal Security . She said her name was... Commander Nabus? She told me to find..."

Pravat shook his head impatiently, "I don't mean *here*, I mean to NEW ALEXANDRIA. Who told you you'd been assigned to the ANUBIS?"

Susan was about to answer "Adml. Smith" when she realized, "There must have been some kind of mix up" and began backing away from the Enaran, "Commander Nabus must have given me the name of the wrong ship..."

Suddenly the woman who had been standing with the CMO said, "wait!" and put a hand on the Enaran's shoulder, stopping him from continuing his interrogation. "Commander Nabus wouldn't make a mistake like that. It's more likely that Koneki is up to his tricks again." She then turned to Susan and repeated the marine's last question (albeit in a nicer tone), "Who sent you here, to NEW ALEXANDRIA?"

Susan stopped her backward retreat, glad that she could answer at least one of their questions, "Adml. Smith." she stated.

Maya looked at Lea incredulously as Lea gave a short burst of laughter. "Smith. Smith is the name he gave you?" Susan nodded. "Now I've heard it all," Lea said as she turned around and carried on with her work, satisfied to leave the ensign to the others.

Maya sighed and endeavored to explain the amusement to the ensign, "Smith is a common name on EARTH isn't it?"

Realizing how implausible Adml Smith sounded, Susan nodded, "Yes, but I assure you, that was the name he gave me."

Maya looked at Lea again, "I wonder if Rikar knows about our new arrival?"

Lea shrugged, "Well, if she doesn't something tells me she's not going to be impressed..."

After a leisurely lunch and a pass through the ANUBIS to check on the progress of the repairs James, Sabrina, and Serrena entered the Infirmary. During that short walk, the redheaded woman had been advised by the the half Human, half Romulan hybrid who had been placed in command of the ANUBIS that they were to expect the arrival of a new Ship's Counsellor. Since no timeframe had been given as to when this would take place, the CO and ExO decided not to give it too much thought… the situation David had been in the midst of ranking higher on the urgency scale.

"Captain" Maya greeted as the CO and the other 2 women approached.

"Lieutenant" James said, "how is he?"

"Condition is unchanged sir" the CSciO replied, "I guess the some good news is that the nanites repaired his heart so he's good as new there."

"Thank God" Sabrina said and Serrena nodded as the Ops Officer became aware of another presence in the room… that of a Counsellor whom she did not recognise.

"But its his brain patterns that worry me" Lea said from David's bio-bed nodding to the monitor in front of Maya.

"What are we seeing?" Serrena asked.

"Different patterns originating from the same brain." the Science chief of the ANUBIS replied.

"Are those David's?" Sabrina asked as she fell back upon her CMO side.

"Affirmative Commander…" Maya said, making the Enaran's eyes roll in his head having already heard the full explanation once before and not at all looking forward to having to be submitted to it again… not that he had all that much choice in the matter.

"…I mean if I did not know that both of these scan results had been taken from David directly, I would have been ready to argue that they were from two distinct individuals. Of course both you and I know that this is not possible unless something happened to the personality that makes David the person that we know him to be."

"Maya… could any of that have to do with when David was possessed?" the COO asked.

"Good question Lieutenant," James said.

"No" Maya replied, "there have been many recorded instances where a person suffered from a traumatic experience which altered their brain chemistry and subsequently their brainwave patter without changing the psychological identity of the individual. What I have been trying to do for the past hours is to evaluate if this change in brainwave pattern is indicating a psychological modification or a biochemical change in the way the brain processes information. So far I have not been able to clarify this to a certain level of certitude which is why I have been working on this same information for so long."

Sabrina sighed, "He never did have a lot of counselling after that."

The mention of the word Counselling immediately made Susan's ears perk wondering if this had been a good time to introduce herself… but after a few moments of silent debate, Ensign Mei decided to remain silent for the time being as the conversation did not seem to easily lend itself to an out of the blue introduction.

"What would that have to do with anything?" Lea asked.

"One of the things counsellors can do Ensign is to record the brain patterns of their patients. Just in David's case… he never fully trusted them.

At that Susan felt a certain relief wash over her about the man they were talking about having been unconscious on 1 of the biobeds.

"So strike one" James said.

"Not entirely Captain" Maya said, "I'm still waiting on the report from David's earlier psyche evaluations and counselling sessions."

"Earlier evaluations?" James said, "when were those done?"

"Shortly after the death of his parents… Captain and Doctor Dawson" Maya replied, "David entered a deep state of depression, dropped out of the Academy…"

"The loss of a single parent is more than enough to trigger the unset of a deep depression… but losing both parents is usually more than anyone can handle requiring them to undergo at least a minimum of counselling." Susan chimed in, only realising after the fact that she had jumped into a conversation that she had not been involved in before.

"An you are?" The ExO demanded… curious as to why an unknown Ensign had felt the need to explain something that they all knew or at least had been well aware of.

"Ensign Susan Mei… the ANUBIS' new CNS?" Susan replied with great nervousness, the second part of her answer having come out more as a question than a statement.

"Looks like the assignment happened faster than we had expected it to." The Ops Officer stated in a cold and sarcastic voice leaving the Cns to wonder if the woman's pointed ears had been due to a Vulcan or Romulan heritage.

"Ensign Mei… I am Cpt. James Simmons… CO of the ANUBIS… we had been made aware of your arrival but had not expected for you to arrive for a little while longer… and we definitively did not expect to find you here." James offered in as a reassuring tone as he could, not wanting to make the poor woman feel any worse than she appeared to be feeling.

Sabrina smiled and echoed her CO's sentiments with a warm smile before her attention was diverted to the biobed when she saw movement out of the corner of her eye. She glanced in David's direction… there it was again. She rushed to his side almost bowling the aCMO out of her way.

"David? David can you hear me?!" the ExO demanded as she took the unconscious man by the shoulders and shook him rather violently.

"Commander… don't shake him!" Lea said as everyone saw the CEOs right arm move… then three fingers and then his hand clenched into a fist.

"David… David, its Sabrina" she said taking his fist into her hand, "David… can you…"

"Help… me…" the CEO said over a whisper.

"What did he say?" Lea asked.

"He said help me" Serrena said from across the room and Maya and Lea looked at the Chief of Operations and she tapped her earlobe.

"Sa… some… one… please…" and his eyes snapped opened and he sat bolt upright which made every one jump back. He grabbed his head.

"The pain… please STOP THE PAIN!" David bellowed as he pounded both his temples.

"David… DAVID!" Lea snapped, "relax… lie down…" she said as a nurse came to assist and she placed a hypo in Lea's hand. She tried to apply it to his neck, but David grabbed her hand and slapped the hypo out of it.

"No way bitch!" he said as he was trying to get off the biobed, "no more sleep for me…"

With the speed of a cheetah, David bolted for the door. Lea tapped her badge, "Security to the Infirmary, emergency!" as James, Serrena, and Prav tried to subdue the massive CEO, but were unsuccessful main due to their wish not to hurt their fellow shipmate.

"Captain… really" David said as he had the captain by the throat as Serrena and Prav tried to break the vise like grip. With his left arm, he shrugged off the COO and MCO and for good measure, tossed the captain at them both. As David went to exit the Infirmary, he ran into a wall… a 7'6" wall of Lieutenant junior grade Elan Fairborn.

David's eyes drifted upward, "So… think you can stop me?!" he said through clenched teeth.

"My friend, please think before you re..." and David went for the big man's throat. Elan flicked his finger at David's head, rendering the man unconsciousness. The big Oltarian grabbed the CEO before he could hit the deck. James and the rest of the staff appeared just as security arrived.

"I'm terribly sorry Captain, but if I didn't…"

Through baited breath, James waved him off, "Think nothing of it… Elan… and I'm sure David won't take it the wrong way."

As they went to put David back in bed, Maya worked steadily on the new readings she took from him as he tried to escape. And what she saw she didn't like.

"Oh no… this is *not* good!" The CSciO said handed the medical tricorder over to the ExO.

"Well Ensign Mei… looks like your arrival has been perfectly timed." The redheaded woman announced as she passed the handheld medical device over to the Cns.
