Setting: NEW ALEXANDRIA, Section C-2, Level 1, Infirmary

When Lea had finally made it back to her quarters it had only been to take a quick shower. The moment the sonic shower had stopped Lea had put on a new uniform and returned to the Infirmary. The shower and change of uniform had been so quick that David had not noticed Lea's absence. Not that he would have noticed a great deal having been out cold thanks to the medication given to him by Dr. Wallin. The NEW ALEXANDRIA's CMO had given the CEO a single shot not telling Lea of what was in the hypo-spray.

Lea had asked several times about what Wallin had given David, but the CMO only replied that *he* was in charge of the Infirmary. Someone had made a choice to keep the Assistant CMO out of the loop, so Lea could do nothing more than she had. All that Lea could do from that point on was to monitor the CEO's condition and wait. The worst part of this wait was that Lea had no idea what she had been waiting for or what to expect.

Time passed as Lea watched David while he slept; his movements restricted to none because of the restraints that Cmdr. Rikar had demanded remain in place. On several occasions Lea had wanted to reach out and comfort him. To touch David and make him feel that he was not alone, but the memory of his outburst several days ago had stopped Lea from acting. Scared that she might interfere in his recovery, the Assistant CMO sat next to the patient and waited.

According to Dr. Wallin rest was all that David needed and Lea would insure that he would get as much rest as he needed for a complete recovery.

Heart rate had been steady since her return. Blood pressure had remained within normal range and everything else seemed to be as it should. Lea could only hope that this would last and that the injection given to David was working with this and not against. After what Maya had discovered, Lea had found it hard to trust the Cairn CMO. That said though she could not challenge him since he was her superior in rank and medical expertise. The research conducted by the CSciO had revealed little more than what had already been known, at least on the physical part. What everyone seemed to agree upon had been that the true source of this situation lied deep in David's psyche. Luckily for the CEO and the rest of the ANUBIS crew, they had now access to a Cns.

"Are you still alive?" The question asked by Dr. Wallin did have certain merits since Lea had not moved a muscle over the last two hours.

Lea turned her head and felt the stiffness that had claimed her muscles. The pain shot through the full length of her back and down to her legs. Lea thought herself lucky that Maya had not been around because the CSciO would have likely enjoyed this a little too much. It would have been the perfect opportunity to explore the effects of long term immobility on a human body. Lea grinned as she thought of Maya and just how thrilled she would have been about her pain and discomfort. At least it made it all a little more bearable.

"If the pain is any indication," Lea replied, "I am very alive."

"Why don't you go for a walk and stretch your muscles," Wallin said. "I'll take care of David."

Lea could not help but look at the CMO in a questioning way. *Taking care of someone* could have been interpreted in several different ways, and frankly the Assistant CMO had not been sure which to use. Lea had been ready to decline the offer when the Cairn CMO turned to greet a new arrival in the Infirmary.

"Admiral Koneki," Wallin said, "I was not expecting you to come for a visit."

"I had a few moments and I needed to speak to you about a rather urgent matter." The base's CO replied before glancing at the Assistant CMO. "Ensign, I need to speak to Dr. Wallin alone."

Before the mind wipe and personality reprogramming, Lea would have snapped at the Admiral and told him that he would have to kill her before she would leave him alone with the CEO. Conditioned to obey the admiral without question, the Assistant CMO smiled and left the room without as much as given David's wellbeing a second thought. Whatever Koneki wanted Lea would do, deciding otherwise had not been an option.
