Stardate: 60313.2245
Setting: USS ANUBIS, Deck 7, Corridor outside Sickbay
The young woman stopped for an instant allowing her thoughts of the day
to catch up to her… to say that today had been a rough day would have been
an exaggeration, but it had not been easy either. The presentation of
their new mission and of their respective assignments had sent the senior
staff to every corner of the ship as each tried in their own way to prepare.
That had not been the problem… keeping track of everyone while trying to
ready herself for their new mission had proven to be just about as much as
the ExO could handle. Maybe that had been why Adm. Koneki had seen fit to
giving them a full week to prepare… both physically and mentally.
Just as she had been ready to start walking again, the door to the Cns'
office opened allowing the ANUBIS' CEO to join the redheaded woman in
the corridor. At first Sabrina had wanted to just turn around and pretend
that she had not seen him, but the young woman quickly reconsidered thinking
that David had already been made to go through enough… plus he appeared to
need someone to talk to, his gaze cast down onto his hands.
"Hi David… finished another session?" The former Cns inquired, knowing
that starting a conversation with a question was normally the best way to
break the ice. Unfortunately the glare that the imposing man shot in the
direction of the redheaded woman clearly indicated that it would take
far more than a simple question to break down the wall that had
materialized the moment the CEO had seen the ExO. David still held Sabrina dear in his heart, but he could not so easily forget or forgive the decision that she had supported to see him removed from official duty as the ship's CEO.
"Checking up on me? Are you or James worried that I won't follow
instructions. Bet you would like nothing more than to see me drummed
out and court marshaled." David snapped at the young woman, hinting that
maybe the last session with Susan had not gone as smoothly as it could have.
"David? That is completely unfair and uncalled for. *We*, as your
friends, did what we had to… not because we wanted to, but because it was the
only way available to us to insure that your career be saved. Remember, you
attacked James and for that he could have easily had you locked up in
the brig until the end of time." Rikar quickly countered with, now wishing
that she had done as shehad wanted to when she had seen the CEO come out of
the Cns' office.
"And like I have been saying… I don't remember ever laying a hand on
James." The imposing engineer growled, forcing himself to regain control of his emotions, an action which actually took Sabrina by surprise and which
proved that despite everything else that had happened, David was making a
genuine effort to see this through and end in a positive way for him.
"I know David…" The Young woman began, but as she searched for the
right words to use, David interrupted, not really feeling up to getting a pep
talk from his former love interest.
"If you will excuse me Commander… It's late and I have a lot of work to
do in regards to my becoming comfortable with my cover identity." The CEO
offered before he turned around and left without giving the ExO a
second glance.
The young woman stood in the middle of the corridor for a little while,
trying to figure out what had just happened. Eventually Rikar decided
to drop the entire matter for the time being and head back to her quarters
where she would try to get some sleep in order to be well rested for
her preparations into becoming, the green-skinned Orion girl known as
Siltrish Brakas.
As she turned to head down the corridor and towards her quarters, the
young woman saw the ANUBIS' Ops Officer heading in the opposite direction.
Instinctively Sabrina nodded a greeting to the half Human, half Romulan
woman but what she received in return floored the ExO. Instead of the
calm and normally stoic response she had become used to receiving from
Serenna, the hybrid straightened her posture and moved to one side, giving Rikar a clear passage down the corridor.
Thinking that maybe there had been someone else behind her carrying
something large and heavy, the young woman glanced over her shoulder
only to find an empty corridor. With that hypothesis shot down, the ExO
returned her attention to the perfectly motionless hybrid… approaching with
reserved caution.
"Serenna? What's going on?" The young woman inquired, never before
having seen such intensity in the hybrid's eyes.
"Romulans show respect to their superiors by stepping out of their way
when they meet in a corridor… I was simply following this simple protocol."
The Ops officer explained, her voice sounding even colder than normal… if
that was actually possible.
"Why do I have the feeling that the ANUBIS is going to be a nightmare
to live in for the next week?" The young woman inquired of no one in
particular as she turned and vanished into her quarters wishing that Enaii had
been there to enlighten her on the ways of the Romulans and more
specifically of the Tal'Shair… something that the Ops Officer was likely going to introduce everyone to… that they liked it or not.
